It's interesting.
I felt that direction started on Chinese Democracy.
I think AFD, LIES and UYI were very obviously autobiographical for the most part - with a few exceptions - but I wondered if he got less direct on Chinese after perceived criticism in the media.
As for a political album.
It depends. I think Axl's strength is about writing about the human condition and linking thoughts and emotions together in unusual yet relatable ways. There's something unique about his perspective on stuff and yet it touches base with so many.
Depending on how it was done I agree it might date too fast. Like when I hear stone sour's anti-george-bush song now. It's still a cool song but its sort of lost in history in a way.
Then again if it was more like civil war and looking at broader struggles rather than calling out particular players it could be interesting.
To be honest it would nice just to hear more of axl's perspective of the world. He had a unique artistic voice in the past.
Solid post.
I think he can do an album with songs like Civil War, Madagascar, Chinese Democracy et cetera.
Axl has a great songwriting ability, and it wouldn't surprise me that he could pull it off.
I mean politically I don't really know how he leans, I could guess it is towards the left, but who really knows. He seems to have gone more left than right with age.
He seems to call people out for their bullshit, and I like that.

So I mean we know new music might be a long ways away.
But, given Mr. Axl Rose seems to dislike the current occupants of the White House.
Does that give the potential for some politically based new songs or overall general theme?
You know if an album or songs were being written.
I assume a musician still writes in private. Regardless, if they're releasing anything currently or in the studio.
Lyrically I think Axl clearly can do it, as he has written kind of those songs. Civil War prime example. Madagascar, Chinese Democracy et cetera.

Republicans know how to win.
Someone at work (this is Canada mind you) was complaining that President Obama couldn't pass a lot of shit and it was executive orders. I was like well that's not the Republicans fault. The exception I'll give is the Supreme Court nominee that was bullshit.
The Democrats should have owned Obama care and for the most part they ran from it until POTUS Trump got in.
They need to also not give up on their candidates.
I get some of you might hate Hillary Clinton. But, the Democrats should embrace her still and say, fuck you, we are running her again. The Comey opening of the FBI inquiry on my birthday October 28th was bullshit, the Russian meddling blah blah blah, and you know what she won the fucking popular vote. More people voted for her blah blah blah, we're running her.
Cause if it was a Republican candidate you damn well bet your ass they would run them again. You know Richard Nixon comes to mind.
They should have run Gore again (and didn't), they should get behind Clinton. Flawed candidate yeah I'd say in some ways. She should have picked Bernie as her running mate, but that's the past.
In 2020, they need to have a name brand candidate.
To not cower away. Like what happened to leaders like Robert Francis Kennedy in the Democratic Party?
They need to win the mid terms in 2018, if they have a shit turn out, then I'll say 4 more of POTUS Trump.
Republicans rile up their base, and they get out to vote.
That's like a lot of Conservative bases in other countries.
If you stay at home, you get what you deserve.
And I get it that, voting has been made difficult in some States and places, but, you still got to go out and vote, regardless of who you like party wise blah blah blah.
Also, decorum needs to be brought back. I lean to the left, but, I don't hate my fellow Conservatives. I dig Senator McCain huge fan, and Richard Nixon had some decent policies. Douglas MacArthur is another person I adore and he was a Republican.
The tax cut thing? Hmm. I think a lot of American businesses should stop betting against the American worker. That since the 80s the decline in US manufacturing is shit. I feel that national security is jeopardized when you out source your production to make an insane amount of profit. I feel paying a decent wage is a good thing. I feel that when you charge the same amount for a product produced now overseas with inferior quality that it is bullshit. Especially when you're getting human rights abuse slave labor.
Like China ain't the Wests friend. Having a huge amount of production there is in my opinion a bad thing.
I'll give President Trump credit for pointing it out, I never heard any Democrat ever do it. Regardless, if he is a hypocrite and friends with hypocrites.
It is possible to make a profit, and produce goods domestically, and pay a decent wage. But, what gets in the ways is greed.
Anyhow, I love your country. This stems from Great Grandparents being born there, and you know America just being great. Sure it has some problems, but who doesn't? No one is perfect.

Yeah I read the spoilers before seeing it (still haven't seen it, thanks Wikipedia), and like I predicted shit happened, happened.

They will release something.
Not going to be negative about it.
It will be done.
Axl ain't Van Halen or any shit band.
He has some form of integrity.
Hate his photography policy, but, he'll he ain't kicking women in the face like that cunt the pigeons of shit metal Josh Homme.

I’d also argue that both AC/DC and Foo Fighters do rock, and both bands always bring their A game in live performances.
I know this is a Guns fan message board, but the way some of you talk about other bands not holding a candle to Guns, I’m like, are you serious...?
WHOOPS TYPO I mean to say they do rock AC / DC. Again, all their songs are the same. Oh this one eh, we're going to say TNT instead of Thunder.
Foo Fighters are just boring as fuck man. Yeah they have some rockers, but, ugh. They suffer from the Dave Grohl yell / scream. "I'm going to yell now and pretend to be animal from the Muppets, woo!!!! yeah!!!! all right!!!! london you guys fucking rock!" I just find their shit boring. Nirvana, not boring, Foo Fighters, boring. But hey, rock is good.
All I am saying is Metallica isn't a bigger brand than Guns. Guns is more mainstream everyone knows who Axl and Slash are, and maybe Duff.
It didn't look like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were lip synching / miming. I don't think it is a requirement years ago.
I've never heard Enter Sandman at any football games.
I'm just saying if you want to get a rock band at its top of its popularity again, and game. Guns is the band to book right now. But, if you want just pop stars then that's easy and less of a risk.
#178 Re: Guns N' Roses » Where do Guns N' Roses Go from here? » 395 weeks ago
Again if the songs are good, then who helped create them initially doesn't matter.
Slash, and Duff are already playing CD tracks so I really doubt they have a problem with them or are just doing it because they have some contract.
Now if the songs Axl has which is what two albums worth of material if were led to believe that, then you can at least get a couple albums out of them. Record new ones and the unreleased gems and split them up. Or just re-record the two albums that are "apparently" present.
I assume songs like: The General (whatever it is called now), Thyme, Atlas Shrugged, Silkworms, Leave Me Alone, Oklahoma, Down By The Ocean, Quick Song, Zodiac, Ides of March, Crash Diet (properly record it), Shadow Of You Love (re-record it)...
Axl Rose has material. And if the song is good that is all that matters.
You can easily pick and choose some of those tracks and put them on one or two albums by recording new shit or any other material the vault has.
And to be encouraging. It isn't like Axl Rose is a bad song writer. Maybe hesitant due to the fiasco of Chinese Democracy.
I don't think it is a label issue either, the three of them can have Geffen by the balls.
Anyhow, I have no faith anything new will be released, but, I like being proven wrong so 2018 they'll have an album ha.
#179 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Tour Dates Added » 395 weeks ago
I’m going to disagree with your Metallica. They would never be booked over Guns. The band’s music is never played at football games.
While “Welcome to the Jungle” is a consistent always played song.
Guns is a way bigger band that the public know.
Also helps Axl is a football fan.
Guns will be the next rock band at the Super Bowl in 2019.
Foo Fighters aren’t a bad choice but they’re boring as fuck, and they’re like AC / DC all songs sound the same but, do (I meant do, not don't ha) rock.
If Justin Timberlake aka nipple gate can become a half time act again then Guns to me isn’t that hard to get or such a bloody hassle.
#180 Re: Guns N' Roses » Where do Guns N' Roses Go from here? » 395 weeks ago
Release a fucking album I hope.
None of this take forever shit.
All that matters is the songs. Songs, songs, songs, and songs. If they're good they're good. If they're shit, they're shit.
