Man. That's a show I do envy! The only way I could have made that show was someone irresponsibly taking a 3rd grader... found the band in high school in the 2000s, as I imagine many many many others have.
I just torrented more and more 90's shows (including some South American soundboards I hadn't heard before)... and wow, it was a great, great, great sounding band.
And so, this is why I try to get every show I can.
I myself wasn't considering this show.. but *my* father called me up and asksed about GNR tonight. Haha.

At some point, I'll have my last GNR show, and Axl will have his last show.
My mother always told me the story of my grandmother wanting to see Elvis in Indiana - only a 3 hour drive. My mother said "oh, mom, he'll be back again." Only he wasn't. That was the last one.
Morbid, but, hey. I won't make the mistake I made in 2002 "It's during school! I'll wait for the summer..."

For every 'wow, Axl is weird' story, there's Kevin Smith's account of his time working for Prince to compliment it!
I'm not sure if Axl not liking touring is accurate. In the "original plan" there was supposed to be a bunch of touring after Chinese, right into album two, touring, and then the third "would be ready". There's another place where he talked about touring a bunch to support it.
The UYI tour was gigantic, so, at some point he had to have been up on that - at least generally touring from 1991 into 1993. I believe the issue with being forced to go out on tour in 91 was 1.) the album wasn't done, 2.) his divorce stuff, but the dates and promoters had already been lined up. I hadn't heard the losing the house stuff, but I guess he'd have to make good the losses the partnership would face.

I think anyone would have a hard time not having fun at a GNR show.
I've even been known to get into Live And Let Die in the front row.

Yeah, but I understand his point of view. You give okay for the song, and then what if there's slash on the box, and it says "Slash from Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver!" and there's a computer animated Slash playing the song with the Duff and Axl in a kilt, or whatever, meanwhile - from Axl's point of view - he's been trying to carry forward and re-invent his live's work, what the others walked away from...touring and trying to get an album out and trying to get people to accept that, obviously he wanted certain assurances. Anything that would prompt "oh, Slash is in the band again?" from a casual rock fan was something he wouldn't want.
