I was immediately disappointed in this record when I finally heard it. It will not bother me one bit if its never released, although I hope it does get a release someday mainly for the fact the album does have a sort of cult like following. There's quite a few peeps who think it is the best solo project from a GNR member.

I love Believe in Me though. Great album, and even though it was released in the grunge era, it could've had legs had it been promoted. The music really went with the era for some reason.

He wrote NR at 15, felt it wasn't ready for AFD in 1986, and finally released it in 1991?  Maybe what we're experiencing now isn't really out of the ordinary for him?

Good point, and in hindsight, what we are dealing with isn't really that shocking. I could never find the quote, but I remember in one of the old magazines in the heyday Axl was talking about the Illusion material before it was released. He said how he had Don't Cry and November Rain back in the AFD period. He didn't feel the songs were ready and the world wasn't ready, so they didn't make it on AFD. In his words, "the weaker of the three", SCOM, made the album instead.

Also, his lofty goals that could never be met(ala the "trilogy" in 2002) has its roots from the old band. Back in 1988, Axl said he wanted to release 5 albums in a 2 year period. Obviously this never happened.

Its like he gets these grandiose visions in his mind, but the way he approaches his art always goes into direct conflict with the actual vision itself.

I'm not trying to justify the wait as its way past the point of absurdity. However, when looking at his past you can sort of understand the bizarre route his career has taken.

Never forget, internal pressure from his old bandmates, record label, and fans caused him to release UYI "prematurely", and they had been working on that album about two years. He said in the late 90's he would never let that happen again. He obviously wasn't lying.:haha:

I'm not fond of this kind of thing. Yeah its meant to be funny, but it makes a mockery out of the whole thing. Like when Hulk Hogan ran for President and Gary Coleman ran for Governor of California.

There's no way in hell the current lineup is recording old GNR songs for CD. Thats way too fucking stupid and unoriginal. If Cd is gonna have 15 tracks, how can CITR still be up in the air? There's no way in hell Better is from 2005. I also don't agree about BH and Huge being excluded from the album. I am sure BBF is on the album as well, but they have not done enough recording to remove BH from the equation.

The only thing he says thats believable is 2008 possibly not being the year.

Although these two teams ahve the inside track right now...I have a feeling niether of these teams will represent the NFC in the superbowl. It will be a team right now that is capable of playing a lot better than they are and is able to keep the turnovers down. I think Minnesota may be on the verge (perhaps not this season) as well as Tampa. I still think Chicago is in it...they, more than any other team, have beaten themselves with massive turnovers and self-inflicted team psyche damage.

Chicago is pretty much out of it.They fucked away this season by letting Jones get away, and by not benching Grossman during preseason. They have a lot of decisions to make in the offseason, and what choices they do make will effect this franchise for many years to come.

In the AFC, we know NE or Indy are pretty much locks for the SB, but these teams are legitimately in the playoff hunt:

Steelers
Panthers
Ravens
Titans
Browns
Texans
Chargers

In the NFC, it is wide open:

Packers
Cowboys
Bucs
Skins
Giants
Panthers
Eagles
Cardinals
Seahawks
Lions
Vikings
Bears

Green Bay isn't overrated. They have a very good defense, and an offense that can score points. The problem will be the running game. Eventually, it will come to haunt them. I have watched all their games this year, and they can not run block for shit. Good team though.

And the NFC doesnt suck. They are no different than the AFC, with the exception of having the ELITE teams. The AFC has New England and Indy. The NFC doesnt have an elite team like them. Doesnt mean they suck.

The AFC's second tier teams are better than the NFC's. There is a difference between the conferences, although I do agree with you and Pasnow that the whole league is getting pretty damn close to an even playing field.

#18007 Re: Guns N' Roses » How much is Axl worth? » 935 weeks ago

He definitely isn't worth billions. He has never made any richest celebrities lists, so he doesn't come near being worth hundreds of millions.

He most likely has tens of millions, and probably still earns a few mil every year on sales from AFD, merch, etc.

Not sure how we got onto this topic but... I love 2 Matchbox albums, and like their middle one alright too. If I were making a rock band from any and every musician around today I might have Rob Thomas front it.

I wouldn't let him front it, but I'd sure let him write a few hit singles.:butt:

I can pass on the live album, although I will most definitely buy that box set when its released. I loved White Zombie, although I never really got into his solo material much.

Astro Creep is one of the most underrated albums of the 90's.
