#18091 The Sunset Strip » Rock of Love exposed as a scam » 923 weeks ago

According to World Entertainment News Network, POISON singer Bret Michaels' hit new reality dating show, "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels", has allegedly been exposed as a sham '” the girl he picked to date was already in a committed relationship.
The rocker picked Jes Ricklett as his mate in the show's high-rated finale last month, but the pink-and-white haired stylist apparently revealed that she had no plans of having a real romance with Michaels '” she dashed off to be with her boyfriend as soon as taping finished.
And, to make matters worse for Michaels, Ricklett's real man, Chicago-based designer Joe Quade, has started poking fun at the POISON star on his MySpace page, writing "[Jes] wants to deal with real fans, not losers . . . If you're not creepy and just want info on the clothing line or to see pics of Jes with a real man that still has his real hair, then thank you for your interest."
Ricklett tells the National Enquirer she had no intention of becoming the girlfriend of a faded rock star when she auditioned for the hit show.
She says, "Someone found me and wanted me to audition for the show, so I did.
"To be honest, I wasn't going on there looking for love. I was kind of like, 'Let's see if I could promote myself.' That's pretty much why I did it."

How many more of these "reality" shows have to be exposed before people realize its all fake? Or has our culture reached the level where it doesn't matter whether something is real or fake?
If this reality genre doesn't fade away soon, our society needs to have some town hall meetings that are shown on national tv discussing how we have all dumbed ourselves down to this point, and why we as a nation feel we must subject ourselves to the lowest common denominator. I'm being serious. Something has to be done about this, and its been plaguing our culture for years and continues to get worse.
Millions watch this crap, and some of them post here. I mean no offense by this post, but something is clearly wrong with our society as a whole that we are subjected to this crap week in and week out, and I would imagine fans of these types of shows can admit that.
So my question to "reality" lovers: What's the attraction to something that bills itself as real but is 100% fake? Is it the has been celebrities seeking one last 15 minutes, or talentless wanna be actors and models who will do anything for a dollar and a few minutes on tv? Or is it the fake sex and relationships?
I seriously have never understood our culture's obsession with this genre.

Excellent point. I don't think I could name one person who has named Axl as an influence. Hell, even his peers weren't influenced by him.

I agree that the 2002 VMA fiasco is blown out of proportion by fans. While the hardcores make it out to be a big deal, its merely a minor asterisk on his legacy. In fact, its not even the real comeback. That happened in 2001 with HOB and Rio. Yeah, it was his reintroduction to mainstream, but in retrospect it is seen as a fiasco because nothing came of it, not because of who was onstage. People forget the huge buzz that one performance created. Had CD been released within a couple months of that performance, it would be regarded as a high point in the band's history.

I thought they had a new album coming out? I guess it was a live cd instead.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - A crazed attacker broke into a Long Island man's home, beat him with a karaoke machine and bit off his ear, police said.
Doctors were unable to reattach the ear of the victim, but his injuries were not considered life threatening, said Nassau County police Officer Mary Verna. The 64-year-old Uniondale resident attempted to defend himself with a vacuum cleaner hose.
The 27-year-old attacker punched and kicked him in the head and face before grabbing the karaoke machine and using it as a weapon, police said. He did not flee the scene of the violence Thursday but instead crouched in the hallway until police arrived.
"This guy just randomly picked this house," said police Sgt. Anthony Repalone.
Luis Hidalgo, also of Uniondale, pleaded not guilty to charges of burglary and assault. He was being held at the Nassau County jail on bail of $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond, prosecutors said. The number for his home was unlisted.

I figured I would start a series dealing with "what if" type scenarios regarding various artists, bands, or albums.
The first scenario will be........
What if John Lennon had never been murdered? Would he have found success in the bizarre musical decade known as the 80's? Could he have even fit in musically during the era? Alot of his solo material dealt with Yoko and alot of introspection about his childhood. Some of it very self indulgent. His anti war and anti religious stance would have been very dated as well. If Lennon were to succeed in the 80's, it would have likely required not only a change in musical direction, but an image makeover as well.
Lennon surviving into the 80's opens up an even bigger can of worms than solo material: What about The Beatles? Had a reunion happened in say 1985, other than cash grab purposes, could the band have been relevant?
Or would Lennon have pulled an Axl type disappearance instead of going forward?
#18099 Re: The Garden » Sex and Marriage with Robots Coming Soon » 923 weeks ago
One of the good things about a robot relationship is there would be no compromise. You can do whatever you want without needing the robot's permission. Also, robots don't have headaches, periods, yeast infections, etc.
If they can figure out how to get a robot's asshole and pussy to taste like the real thing, women may get phased out completely.......

Never heard it. Only heard a few songs from him, and I wasn't very impressed. Doesn't mean I think he sucks, maybe I heard the wrong songs.
