No matter how many times you buy it, they're still the same songs.

I guess it's just easier for you to see Americans as a cohesive group. Not true at all. Any action by the US government is not an expression of the will of the people of the country. Yes a lot of people were pro-war, but that came as a result of the fear-crazed post-9/11 political climate and misplaced trust in the Bush administration. They SOLD us the war and it cost the Reps Congress in 06, we didn't ask for it.

Just wait, if Obama decides he wants to deploy ground troops (which probably won't happen because as others have pointed out, this is largely a European thing) then they'll go around selling the war to the country. And then people will be pro-war in Libya too, for a little while.

Americans can always be sold a war if the administration tries hard enough. But if they sell it on bad justification we usually don't fare too well, and soon enough those leaders get tossed out.

ridiculous.
this is absolutely essential & should have happened weeks ago.

a government has opened a war on it's people, yet this doesn't qualify as justification for intervention?!

i LOVE how the americans are saying it's about Oil when it was only a few years ago the rest of the world were saying that 'no, american intervention in Iraq isn't justified, it's merely to shore up their oil supply (& a personal vendetta).' yet when there is actual justification the americans suddenly think intervention is a bad idea. the hypocrisy of the american people & state over libya & gaddafi would be laughable if it wasn't so disgusting & evil.

Being pro-US intervention in the Middle East is blind to the future. Even if we make things slightly better today, they'll be worse in ten years. Didn't we give bin Laden the weapons he needed to fight off the oppressive Soviets? Didn't we give tens of billions of dollars of support to prop up Mubarak for years? Has Iraq turned into a glowing example of democracy in the middle east since we decided to topple its government?

The answers are yes, yes, and no. The US needs to get out, and I mean 100% out, of the Middle East. I would stop funding IMF and the World Bank too. The presence of evil doesn't justify the US bombing something, unless you think there's a few dozen other countries and governments we should be toppling right now - in which case please list them. As Olorin mentioned, the accuracy of reports on violence in Libya is questionable, and the only sources we have are the people who want to start dropping the bombs. That's like being for the Iraq invasion in 2003 because Bush told you he was damn sure there were WMDs in there. So again, I take it you're glad the US invaded Iraq in 03? You think it was the right decision?

Not to mention the unilateral authorization of a military attack by the President in a situation that doesn't pose an imminent threat to the nation is unconstitutional. 'Higher oil prices' isn't enough.

Nolan's been really good at making the movies about Bruce instead of about the villains (although obviously a lot of people thought the Joker stole the show in TDK) so I'll trust him. Really excited for this movie mostly because I have no idea what to expect. I ate up the ARG for TDK, but I'm considering just being ignorant about Rises and enjoying it when it gets here. Casting decisions I like to know but I like being in the dark about the plot.

I think Citizen Kane is a great point, similar to how The Archies had the top single of 69 even with the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, and other historic bands were around then. There's obviously no perfect gauge of quality, but time is a big test.

Bon Jovi has had HUGE albums, singles, and tours in 3 separate decades, and their 80s hits still get radio play and are loved by millions. They've stood the test of time, so I think it's pretty silly to call their initial success a fluke.

'People pay attention to talent' is asserting that talent is a predictor of success. If you want to amend that and give some other reason why people paying attention to Axl is different than the many more who pay attention to Bon Jovi, feel free. But don't pretend you haven't been flipping your argument based on who you're applying it to. All you've really managed to say in your many posts in here is that you like GnR, and you don't like Bon Jovi.

Bon Jovi was bitching a few years ago about the fact that people were still paying attention to Axl even though he hadn't released an album in 10+ years, but it's not rocket science. People pay attention to talent. Axl has a ton of it.

And how many times do I have to say it? Popularity doesn't mean shit for quality. Reminds me of when people point to box office as proof of a movie's quality. All it means is a lot of people liked it, not necessarily that it's the most amazing thing ever. Quality is a completely subjective issue apart from popularity.

Hypocrite much?
