#181 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses & related STUDIO SESSIONS - a definitive collection (?) » 375 weeks ago

It depends on what you're compiling here but take these two sources:

Classic Rock, 07/07 wrote:

"In addition to these leaked tracks, Classic Rock has heard versions of Rhiad And The Bedouins, Prostitute, Atlas Shrugged (another track featuring the signature guitar of Brian May) and Silkworms."

The "leaked tracks" being:

  1. Chinese Democracy

  2. Better

  3. Catcher In The Rye

  4. IRS

  5. There Was A Time

  6. Madagascar

Plus the "new" Classic Rock songs:
    ---

  7. Rhiad And The Bedouins

  8. Prostitute

  9. Atlas Shrugged

  10. Silkworms

It's unlikely the album was 10 songs but I digress...

There’s one record company executive, who I dare not name, who was playing privately for journalists in London in the summer of 2007, his version of the album, which dated back to when he worked on the project — 2001 or 2002, when it was first on the schedules to be released. And these were finished tracks.

It narrows down Classic Rock's source and also dates them to "when it was first on the schedules to be released" which was September 2002.

Ipso facto, Classic Rock likely heard:

  • 2002 versions

  • Produced by Roy Thomas Baker

  • Brian May was still on Catcher and Atlas

While more esoteric than "in circulation" or in a more general pool, it gives a more exact estimation of what is definitively known to exist.

You can also add Chinese Democracy and Oklahoma (Berlin) (Instrumental) from 2000 via Rolling Stone piece if you are going with this sort of tracking.

And Prostitute 1999 if you believe Walker and other longstanding rumors.

I vote we give 'em the Hook.

It could've been a domestic tie-in for Mr. Nice Guy which ultimately came out in North America in 1998.

The safer bet is on Rush Hour being a big budget movie and a big LA production even if the production schedule doesn't exactly line up.

there's also "daddy can the devil do mommy and me?" which was probably just a joke from axl. hell of a title, though.

Nah, there's a scene in End of Days where the Devil (Gabriel Byrne) seduces a mother and daughter in front of her husband.

It's pretty dark.

I really don't think the real working title of the song is Jackie Chan. IMO, that was Axl joking title.

i bet it has some other title, but i do believe it's the song written by old guns that was worked on for the jackie chan soundtrack.

Same. There's literally no other reason for it not to be on CD.

Everyone needs to chill with the leak begging.

If it leaks, it leaks, and people will post and talk about it here.

I picked out 5 tracks of the bunch.

The second disc is an inferior version of the album to my ears so it doesn’t do much for me.

I didn’t care much for Shadow upon release but it’s grown on me. The chorus is pure 80s schlock but the rest isn’t bad.

In all likelihood, the Beavan tracks feat. Bucket would kill the latter-day versions. Oh, well.

If only for vocals that resemble human.

My theory is that there’s at least an EP of Buckets N Roses stuff and The General, Sorry, Soul Monster, and the like will all make a nice collection when all is said and done.

I think they’ll all be very Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. And more uptempo from the sounds of it too.

But yeah, what Neemo said. Also consider some crazies paid big money for it once upon a time. 11

So those leaked email songs were legit?

I thought about including Betas Barn as well because Pitman mentioned it but kind of post-lore yet still canon.

I’m trying to mine the well of theology analogies. Maccabees? Ecclesiastes was on the radical fringe. Hmm. Bueller? Bueller?

Look out for my next post: Chinese Democracy Exegesis 101.
