strat0 - gotcha. thanks! personally, i never really thought he was saying "prostitute." but there are others in these threads that are far better than i at determining lyrics.
neemo - no problem. thanks for putting that list together! 
i was telling some friends last weekend that there are 3-4 albums worth of songs and that we had heard at least 10 rumored titles. didn't realize it was actually more like 20 (plus the approx. 10 we have already heard).

i voted for slash. slash IS guns n roses. he's a huge reason why i am such a die hard fan of gnr. so if he's a choice i have to pick him. and even though the new music has gone in a slightly different direction, there is no doubt in my mind that slash would have made these songs better, AND contributed kick ass music that Axl would have turned into masterpieces.
with that said, bucket is great. he's unique and he can flat out play. i would love for him to come back and tour with gnr.
i also like finck. and i love fortus. like DCK said, the answers on the poll don't make much sense.

i've given these three new songs more than a chance. i want to like them, but they are just awful. way too much going on, annoying drum loops, not axl's best voice.
if this was the actual album, i would be very disappointed. i keep hoping there will be a song on the album better than anything we've heard. ideally, a true balls-out rocker. but with each round of leaks, i lose more and more hope.

i was there that night. had the perfect night planned. me, my dad, my bro, my future bro-in-law, and 4 good friends all sitting in the 1st row of the 2nd level, close to the stage in section 224. i even rented a limo so we'd all be together all night with no worries about driving.
my friends had never seen GnR, but had heard me talk about how great their live shows were for years. and this was the night they would finally get a taste.
i knew we were screwed when i got inside, found some other friends that were there, and they told me how long MMM had been on.
seeing the riot from up above was quite a scene. i also saw people breaking off the seats in the 2nd level and throwing them down below (just the cushion seat with the metal/binoculars underneath). those things must weigh a good 5lbs or so.

i don't think tommy stinson is totally clean.
i can't even guess as to who has the masters and what anyone involved is thinking. IF the label has the masters, there is still the issue of the remaining material. so axl would still have a bargaining chip.
were details of the contract ever made public? does axl owe them a certain number of albums?

i think the hold up isn't about the first album. it's the fact that Axl recorded at least 3 albums worth of material on universal's dime. the negotiations could have to do with the rest of the material.
in the meantime, they can't sit on this too long or else it will leak.

i think the delays will have minimal effect on sales. in fact, it's the delays themselves that have raised overall awareness of the CD. there hasn't been anything going on in months, yet there are still articles being written about it, and people asking about it. IF it's ever released, it will be big news and alot of buzz will be created.
some rock albums still sell very well. the critical factor isn't promotion, it's having good "pop" rock singles that get played frequently on the radio. songs that people of all demographics want to hear regularly. IF that happens, then the album will sell.

i hit 3 stores in philly where it sold out yesterday. finally started calling and had an FYE hold a copy for me. i spoke to the manager when i picked it up and he said they received 5 copies. and since my phone call he had 3 or 4 people ask about it, so he had put in an order for many more.
no way was this planned. only people actually interested in the album are aware of it selling out. Bach needs this album to be seen on the shelf by as many people as possible. and much more importantly, it needs to be on the shelf over the next 5 days. if it is not, it is a catastrophe for him.
