#181 Re: Guns N' Roses » So where exactly is Axl Rose? » 860 weeks ago
The thing that messes with my mind is Axl Rose is even crazier now than he was before. At least before, he wanted to win and would fight to make art. Now, he sits in a mansion and if a little kid asked him "where's Slash?" he'd probably start crying. This isn't an attack on Axl, it's just the way it is.
I understand him being sensitive and odd, that in part is what makes him a good artist, but releasing what averages a song a year? Come on, now. Does anyone really think we're going to see another album from this guy? There's just no way. I don't care if he has 3000 finished songs in his vaults. I'd love him to prove me wrong, but somehow I doubt it. That tour that was spoken of? I can't even see that happening. Nothing else from these guy's mouths has come true.
I just hope VR finds a new singer so we actually have some music to listen to from the musicians we most identify with.
#182 Re: Guns N' Roses » LARS ULRICH Holding Up Release of GNR 'Better' Video? » 860 weeks ago
Not to mention the online interviews allowed him to be extremely selective on which questions he answered, and hell, he made one rant on a subject all his own.
Axl's word is about as reliable as Mick Wall's. At this point, there are no interviews like he said there would be and no video. Why defend him? He's extremely talented and extremely crazy. He spent 15 years making an album and holding it up to tinker with a bell and a whistle here and there, then totally abandons all promotion and still stays out of the public eye. The dude hasn't done shit but worried about lawsuits in 15 years... this is what the art of GNR has become?

Someone needs to fucking show Slash who Phil is real quick. He seems to have everything in terms of singing, lyrics... I haven't listened to his stuff that closely. Even so, they aren't going to find anyone who fits their style better, I don't think. And, the lyrics can't be any worse than Weiland's. When he referenced Transformers, I almost pissed myself.

In Canada, MuchMusic still plays videos.

Ummm... in the Guitar Hero commercials, Slash played Slither. So, he's not lending shit to GNR. He happens to be in a game that features GNR and also has downloadable VR content.

Anyone know where to find the set of questions in regards to the answers downliner posted in the answers thread? I tried looking, but am coming up with nothing.

How would you rank your work on This I Love compared to past ballads? I personally think it's right up there with your best.
Also, did you catch the new Trailer Park Boys special that just aired? What's your favorite episode and character? "There's dirty old bees on it!" - Baz

The next video! Awesome!
Wait, where was the one that preceded it?

On the second album, I really liked Back to the Moment.

Bottom line is the sales suck, it's virtually proven now the only reason the album made it near the top in the first week was because of the die-hards. Just let go of Axl's braids, there's no need to defend him anymore. The album came out, Axl ignored it, it flopped commercially and now people must move on. There's no reason to ride the defense bandwagon now, Axl himself didn't even try. If Axl-ites wouldn't have talked so much shit on Contraband over the years and treated him like a God, maybe this turn wouldn't have created such a stir. Such as it is, Axl was put on a pedestal and the album basically came out in America with all the fanfare of a William Hung record, like Libertad (but at least that's 'the Weiland album'). Everyone was shocked, but then some people decided to face reality. I don't think it's necessarily an indication of the quality of music, I love the album, but it's the way she goes. I'm not about to stand here and defend Axl for releasing the album without so much as giving an interview and further explaining to the fans (ie: the only people who bought the album) what's going on. He fucked over (although not in HIS mind) everyone else and now he's fucked over the die-hards completely. We have a great album, but Axl is finally getting salt thrown back into his eyes. "Nobody owes you not one Goddamn thing" works two ways.
I got you covered; Axl doesn't have to explain anything. He's an artist.
(Yeah, and the people don't have to buy albums.)
