#181 Re: Guns N' Roses » BETTER: second single CONFIRMED » 866 weeks ago
Remember the Swedish newspaper that posted the clean embedded mp3 of the Chinese Democracy single?

Awesome! Especially because this link is embedded in the page: http://www.20min.ch/tooldata/sound/540.mp3
They've struck again. They don't even have an article up yet, but I simply tried every number after 540.mp3 and found http://www.20min.ch/tooldata/sound/558.mp3 which is the radio single in 160kpbs quality!

Is this the best the "scene release" groups can do? Less than a week to go and there's no proper release, just a few miscellaneous songs dropped here and there to tease? If they're trying to punish the GNR fan base for some supposed disrespect, then they're just playing into Best Buy/Universal's hands.
At this point I don't even give a fuck if it leaks or not. I've got my copy ordered from Best Buy already, so I'll just wait for it to show up in the mail.

The samples are only 32 kpbs wma files, so they're still not a good indication of what the final mix sounds like.

Just based on the name, I'd say that "Thyme" is likely "There Was A Time."
Over the next 12 months, the band apparently recorded 30 songs for the album, continually reworking them. Tracks recorded were said to include ‘Prostitute’, ‘Cock-a-roach soup’, ‘This I love’, ‘Suckerpunched’, ‘No love remains’, ‘Friend or foe’, ‘Zip it’, ‘Something always’, ‘Hearts get killed’ and ‘Closing in on you’. Depending on who you believe, they veered from techno-industrial rock to old-style Guns sleaze.
Interestingly, sources even suggested that the album already had a title - possibly ‘Cockroach soup’ or, more realistically, ‘2000 intentions’.
Looking back at the Kerrang article which was the source of several of these lost tunes, they did mention Prostitute and This I Love as well. So some of the others may have been real songs, but who knows if they had complete lyrics and vocals recorded, or if they were just work-in-progress instrumentals.

I wonder if he ratted out whoever leaked it to him? Or did he just have this in his possession from previously working for Universal?

I guess the "masturbation" in CD and ofcourse the "fuck-" in Riad. Maybe they're stretching it because of the title of "Prostitute"?
And don't forget "never mind who you gave head"

I keep waiting for that Rolling Stone "Axl Speaks" cover story, but it doesn't look like it'll be the latest issue. The cover story is something about the 100 Greatest Singers Of All Time, and this issue will run for the next two weeks. This should be his crowning achievement, the culmination of over a decade of work, so why haven't we heard a peep out of the man himself?
If the album comes out in a little over a week and there isn't some major promotional push like a front cover magazine interview, music video, new band lineup, tour announcement, etc. then it just sounds like this is an afterthought to wrap up this chapter in the bands history.
#188 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR Myspace Updates » 867 weeks ago
Do they really need three guitarists? Let Bumble do the leads and Fortus on the rhythm and they're good to go. And does anyone else think it's strange that Josh Freese announced that he was leaving the NIN tour at the end of December? Wouldn't that be ironic if they replaced all his drum parts on the album, then brought him back for the GNR tour?

I'm also impressed that it hasn't leaked yet. I read on one of these boards that the Best Buys won't even be getting their deliveries in the stores until the day before, but it takes weeks to press all these CD cd's and get them to where they're going to be sold. There has to be at least a million copies pressed up and sitting in a warehouse somewhere, or possibly being shipped to one of several distribution centers. So kudos to everyone involved for keeping such a major release under wraps for so long. Of course, I'll download my copy the minute it hits the net!

I'm pretty sure the review copies have been out there for a week or two (at least for RS and a few other major publications), and are heavily copy protected - resulting in the "skippy" leaks we heard a couple of weeks ago. Still, I'm amazed that there's less than two weeks to go and a proper scene release hasn't surfaced.
