Pissed, not really. Very disappointed for sure. It's the last chance they/he have/has. If it all goes to shit this band is dead and buried.

Happy new year!
Looks to be a great one for us gunners

#186 Re: Guns N' Roses » Potential Opening Acts » 523 weeks ago
Doesn't Dave Grohl have some kind of beef with Axl? Not sure Foo Fighters would be the best choice.
Other than the MTV awards incident in '92 i don't remember anything.
And that was a long time ago, i don't think it's an issue.
#187 Re: Guns N' Roses » Potential Opening Acts » 523 weeks ago
Does the opening act have to be a modern rock group? I was thinking about Alice Cooper as an opener but then he's in the same "nostalgia" vein as GNR. On the other hand, he's still a great vocalist unlike others (cough...Vince Neil).
Alice Cooper is in Europe for the summer festivals so i think that's a no go.
Foo Fighters sounds really interesting, they're well respected among the rock/mainstream music crowd.

One thing that's interesting about this. Anyone notice the huge nostalgia push lately? Jurassic World doubled everyone's expectations with a $650m domestic gross. Star Wars is blowing away even the highest expectations people had for it and will likely end up with $1 billion domestic. That's two massive brands from the 80's and early 90's that came back with a huge vengeance this year. Maybe GN'R could make it a trio of massive brands to make a huge comeback. Rock and roll is fucking dead...but maybe GN'R can provide a little jolt of lightning at least.
Yeah, either the entertainment industry is out of new ideas or the public is looking for quality elsewhere since they can't find it in what's hip right now.
They're remaking movies from the early 90's, i mean, that wasn't so long ago, was it?

I've known GNR fans throughout my life but never any hardcore and definitely none that feel the way I do about this. Anytime any of them hear something about GNR they think of me and will give me the news.....as if I haven't heard it.
I consider all of you friends even though we don't know each other in real life. Most of us have known each other for 10+ years. Been through a few highs and many lows together. Now we finally get to experience GNR doing things proper. The internet wasn't even around the last time they were a mainstream band on top of the world. It's crazy.
You know, i realize that some of you have been by this band since the beginning and got to witness the implosion first hand.
No Internet, just relying on mainstream media and hearsay.
I was 2 when AFD came out so i just got into the band when they were already gone.
And now, 20+ years later, for you to see them back together, i can't even imagine how that feels.
But, all in all, it's been great to have this community to get us through the hard (really hard
) times.

Axl already has material in what I assume is various stages of completion and I hope they tackle that first. IF doing new material I hope they go into a studio and whip it up in 6-8 weeks Soundgarden style.
If they work on the songs that Axl already has they might be able to pull it off, but if you want them to go from scratch there's no chance of a 6-8 weeks album. It took him 15 years to put out one album.
Plus, they had to convince him to put out UYI too. And some of the songs were around since before AFD.
He's a perfectionist in the studio and always has been, not only with CD, but with everything else. Even when he had Slash, Duff and Izzy he wasn't moving quickly. I don't think we'll see a big change now. He's older, he's got money, he proved he doesn't care that much about the legacy (i think).
Like i said, the only way this moves quick, is by using the lyrics/songs he already has worked on for the past 15+years.
