Fuck me, it's legit. Try changing the numbers to 10.

Hmm, the concept does look a lot like those promos that fans have knocked up on YouTube. And it does look a bit shonky - though they've clearly got a hi-res image of the cover, and the site seems legit. I would imagine this might be a test reel produced for the client, a proof of concept. It is the bleeding obvious way of advertising the album, though - using the intro/opening chords of Chinese Democracy is a no-brainer. Wonder how much Azoff is paying them?

God, it's weird seeing the cover over there on the right next to the others...

So, what time can we expect the torrents to pop up, then?
#1975 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy release date? » 872 weeks ago
It's a canny decision to sell it in NA on the Sunday; it gets them a couple of days of extra sales, and - more importantly - it means that people in NA will have to buy the album on Monday rather than picking up a torrent from someone who bagged it in Europe.

Regardless of the quality, I'd love to hear a soundboard recording of the song. It's a damn shame that we never managed to get one.

If there's any double-dipping, I'll be downloading the tracks. I won't stand for that shit. Having said that, if there's a US-only special edition available, I might ask one of our lovely US-based people here to pick me up a copy and Paypal the money over to 'em.

If there's a super-duper special edition with extra bonus tracks, it'll likely be a US exclusive. Us poor mugs outside the US will have to either pony up for a second-hand copy on eBay or amazon or wherever, or come begging in the forums for the extra stuff. Whereupon a hundred self-righteous assholes will descend upon us, shouting "U SHULD BUY IT UR NOT A TRUE FAN!!!!111!111!zomg". These people having completely failed to register that, yes, we have paid Axl for the standard edition, and if we buy an import copy of the special edition, Axl won't see a cent more; some asshole on eBay will be creaming a few dollars off us, though.

Comparing The Beatles to GnR is a joke. The Beatles evolved together musically, Axl fired everybody (or drove them out...whatever makes the Axl lovers happy) to create his version of GnR. This would be like McCartney getting rid of the other Beatles and releasing the Wings' albums as Beatles albums.
As an aside, the Beatles came very close to "reforming" in the 70s without Paul. IIRC the line-up was John, George, Ringo, Billy Preston and Klaus Voorman - they got together to do one song on one of the solo albums and nearly ended up teaming up. I supposed that'd be more like Velvet Revolver than the present GN'R, though.
