Anyone able to hook me up with this clip? I'm curious

It really does make me think a little of Portishead (though I'm not sure which track)
The intro of The General sounds like the start of Mysterons...
Which makes me wonder about that poster Mysteron's choice of name now in hindsight.

He's basically just a touring member.
If GNR were run like a normal band, this would've been announced many years ago.
I thought they did?
They said brain was leaving for have a child but is still an offical member and frank would be the touring drummer
Good point, they never officially announced Brain's departure and Frank has only ever been officially announced as a touring member (although he did get some parts on CD).
Officially, they never announced Bumble left

It's incredible that about a week ago we got The General and possibly also Soul Monster and already the forums are a ghost town againa nd the buzz is gone.
The drip feed approach really kills the hype + it shows how this saga has just taken way too long.
The band should formally announce some of their future plans - like if they're actually doing a new album then just announce that you are doing that. Right now... the future of the band feels like it's entering a 03-05 silent era.

They really should have released this batch of 5 or 6 as a whole release with maybe 1 or 2 singles prior in the run up to release day.
I'd have rather had UYI 30th anniversary in 2021 with the actual anniversary followed by a single near the end of 2022 with this full EP released earlier this year.
The wait between Hard School and Perhaps was awful, with Slash popping up in an interview every few months to say songs were coming in a few months time
Instead this piecemeal one song at a time effort means we all burn out on these individual tracks super quick as we just blast them on loop until we're sick of them.

Time went by and they borrowed from the second album by 08.
Yeah, the vision for album number one clearly shifted during 01-03. It's clear from the 2019 leaks that they had the core of the new album on RM1 with a handful of tracks (like If and IRS) on other discs, with album 2 clearly in the oven already (Sorry, Shackler, Better plus the other instrumentals).
Somewhere along the lines, album 1 was in the oven too long and got overbaked. Then they started cannibalizing. Taking parts of songs to finish other songs and taking tracks from album 2 for album 1.

He had a double album and some odda and ends. For a double you only need 6-8 singles too
CD
Better
Street of Dreams
Hard School
Atlas Shrugged
Perhaps
IRS
This I Love
There's your singles too , to promote the thing over a 2-4 year span

Personally what I'd prefer more than anything is leaks or boxset release of CD material with the musicians who actually wrote those songs. However, it's very possible we never hear that.
Failing that I'd really like them to continue with releasing Slash/Duff reworked CD era songs, preferably as a bigger release and not a dripfeed. The dripfeed approach is really old and boring.
Failing that.... give us something completely new. I personally dont think what these guys write and produce in their 60s will be that interesting so if what that Mayhue guy said about there being Appetite and UYI era songs that were never finished I'd prefer those.
Failing that... just release more proshots in good quality like the 91 Ritz.
Really though. I just wish they'd ditch the secrecy and silence. It's not cool or mysterious. It's annoying. They aren't the pinnacle of pop culture like they were in the early 90s and they don't have the mystique of the early CD years. You have an older fan base with disposable income, talk to them and give them things to buy that they want.

Big part of what makes a song great is also the context it's hears in. When you hear it, how you hear it, how it's presented and also where you are at in your life.
Get all this music out closer to when it's written and it will all hit different.
The General frankly sounds really dated, I dig it but musically it's style is well ... early 00s. It's fun to listen to but it would have been enjoyed a lot better if it came out in 02-04.
