#11 Re: Guns N' Roses » Favorite Gnr Song From Each Album » 643 weeks ago
Interesting stuff. This thread is from 6 weeks ago and I immediately thought of the Top 10 GnR songs thread in the ex Guns section. Made wonder if my Top 10 list was consistent with my picks in this thread.
For the most part they were. The only songs from this list that conflicted with the ranking of my Top 10 list were November Rain and Dead Horse. I had picked Dead Horse as my favourite off UYI I in this thread but ranked November Rain as my 3rd all time favourite Gn'R song in the other thread. Dead Horse though was the only other UYI I song to crack my top 10 all time list so these two songs seem to flip based on my mood. However I will say in the overall scheme of things and based on ALL TIME I'd have to go with November Rain as my consistent favourite off UYI 1.
here's what I said of the two songs in the other thread and where I ranked them.
3. November Rain:
This charts fairly high on my list based on it's super nostalgia power. This song more than any Gn'R song takes me back to highschool. Not just school dances but everything. Back then it was THE song and again like SCOM the lyrics may be a tad soft but Slash's guitar solos are again the highlight and power the song. The outro to the song is the most unexpeced outro to any song ever in my opinion and it only added to the sheer grandness of the song. This song was in fact my favourite song of all time for years and years even after highschool. It's dropped a bit the last decade but still classic.9. Dead Horse:
In my opinion Gn'R's most classic rock sounding song. I love the way the intro kicks in and tempo of the song from there on out is great. Musically it's not anything special in the Gn'R catelogue, Axl's voice is good, lyrics are alright but the result is greater than the sum of the parts. It's just always been one of my very favourite Gn'R tunes.
UYI I: Dead Horse

Just based out of curiosity shouldn't this thread be in the ex gunners thread. I mean let's be honest if someone had started a Bring Back Slash thread they'd be told to fuck off, the thread would be moved or locked and the person who started it would be accused of trolling and hating the new band.
I guess I'm just seeing some real inconsistencys here and to be honest I do find it annoying that it's perfectly acceptable to discuss bringing Robin back but the idea of classic GnR memebers returning is relegated to another thread and anyone who likes the iea of Slsh returning is living in the past. I guess it's the principle of it all. Epecially after the topic of some of us being too negative towards the new band a month ago and yet here we are with members of the board openly saying it's time to reunite Guns N' Roses..... but only the 2002 version cause that's ok.
I have to think I'm not the only one who has noticed this and is scratching their head a bit.

But to be fair to buzz, at least he only thinks he can do as good as Robin. You think you can do as good as Axl.
who coudln't make a good album with a 10+ million dollar budget, world class musicians at their disposal and 10+ years of free time on their hands to work with. It's not a stretch to think given the same circumstances I or you or anyone could come up with something just as good as CD.
Not even a stretch? Neither of us can even play the guitar! I mean sure, a group of talented musicians might be able to create something similar with all that, but what the hell is your role going to be in this thing? You're going to sing as good as Axl? Play guitar as good as Buckethead? Come up with lyrics and melodies as good as one of the most successful song writers in history?
I've heard some crazy shit in my time, but damn!
13 fucking years & 13 million dollar budget. Even if you spent the first 5 years learning the guitar and piano from scratch as your full time job you could get to a point where you could come up wth song ideas, melodies, lyrics. You could travel for a year non stop to gain some inspiration for writing and then you've till got seven years to have world class musicians come in and write some killer guitar parts & bounce ideas off you. You coud use computers and syntheizers to create orchestras just as Axl does. Axl doesn't play guitar as good as anyone in his band, he doesn't play drums, he can't play violins or conduct an orcetsra. It's all synth. Funny that you make it sound as though 'd have to do all those things et Axl doesn't. Axl can fucking sing yes but he's not the only person who can sing and you don't need to sound like Axl Rose to create somthing as good or better. Maybe you and Monkey are right and I'm underestimating the song wrting process but I think maybe you guys are underestimating how long 13 years is, how much a 13 million dollar budgets actually is and how amazingly benefitial it is to have guys like Bucket and Brain and Richard and Tommy and Paul and Robin and Ron and DJ and Frank and Dizzy and Chris and basically anyone you want as your bandmates. I'm pretty confident given the same circumstances and same resources I could come up with something as good despite my voice not sounding like Axl Rose's. There's people all over the planet who have created things as good or better than CD. My music collection is full of them nevermind the people who unfortunately we'll never hear from. You make it sound like CD is an unnattainable achievement for all mankind other than Axl.

Since when have you and Bono been sharing accounts?
Some of you are really starting to lose it. When have I ever called Robin or any of the member hacks? For years I've said I hated Robin's stge presece but I've also been consistent(Not ID's definition of consistent
) in my opinion the best guitar parts on CD are Robin's but carry on. It's rather commical now how some of you just thrive on making things up.

YES! YES! YES!

I don't even give a shit about new music from THIS line up. I don't care about new Ron and DJ songs. Robin and Bucket are the only era I care about hearing from. Make this happen. Now.
Thing is, most of the 2002 band is STILL in the band. And I'm open to their new music. That's what we call being consistent, home boy.
I've never seen so much consistency in my life home boy.
#17 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Bring Back Robin Finck "Tank" » 643 weeks ago
I've never seen anyone put a bigger foot in their mouth as you did tonight. Justify it all you want everyone saw your posts.
You don't know what I like and don't like. You're so narrow minded I could list the 3 songs on CD I really like and you'd whine that I don't like the new music because I don't jerk off to Catcher or There Was a Time. I could say I think Shacklers is cool but then you'd bitch because I don't like The Blues. That's your style. You incessantly focus on what other's don't like. I could say how much I'd like to see this new band record an album and you'd bitch that I don't like CD. You always whine about how I don't like the new music well newsflash jack there isn't any new music. Most of the "new" music is 5 years old, the rest is more than 10 years old and it's from a band that doesn't exist anymore. You have no fucking clue what I or anyone will think of NEW music. Yet you act like you've already heard a new album. I just said I think Ballad of Death is better than anything on CD nd I've been o tat opinion since I first heard it. To you that makes me a hater but to anyone else with an ounce of common sense it says maybe I'd actually like an album that DJ contributed to. I could tell you how I thought the show I saw in 2010 was kick ass and Axl sounded amazing but then you'd cry like a baby when I expressed an opinion shared by many that Axl often sounds like shit these days. Why would you do that? Cause you focus on negativity. You dislike the newband, admited to having no interest in hearing new material from them and your only interest is in hearing new material from the 2002 lineup. That's a vastly different attitude than my "negative" one that wants to hear THIS band record an album. Funny how you turned the tables on yourself.
As for me not buying CD, well here it is for ya "home boy" one more time. Try and warp you little mind around it ok since you seem to bring this shit up way more than me Fact is I travelled multiple times across the continent to see the new band, the 2002 lineup, the 2006 lineup and was excited for the album but when they blatantly jerked fans around in 2006 with stupid Tuesdays left, toured under the false promise of an album and then Axl's pathetic excuse of a letter I made a decision that they would not get my money based on an album purchase. You have a way bigger issue with that than I do trust me. It's fucking weird how you bring that up all the time as if I personally insulted you by not buyig it. You think I think it was about Axl owing me something but that's not it but again you lack the capacity to understand that. The fact I haven't purchased the album shows that when it comes to my word I have pretty fucking awesome integrity. I said I would not buy it and I never did. You can fixate on that all you want. It's weird that you do but whatever. Nevermind the fact I've alway stated if they released a new album I would buy it. If I did though you'd bitch that I didn't buy CD cause that's what you do.

Have to back Bono up here.
These recent posts about you wanting the 2002 lineup back and not caring about the current lineup come out of left field, when you called most of us negative for supposedly not supporting the current lineup, when most of us actually do...
![]()
yup. Guess it's us "negative" people who are actually more supportive of THIS band seeing as though we're the ones who actually want them to do something yet the "positive" peeps like ID don't give a shit and just want a 2002 reunion. Unreal. Gotta love it to when a guy accuses others of hating the band and bashing the members yet he sits there and says how much he dislikes DJ and doens't give a shit at all about new material involving Ron and DJ.
It's beyond hilarious.

the way Lindsay Lohan has turned out has got to be one o the sadest Hollywood stories lately. Just a prime example of how drugs and booze and plastic surgery and overall just poor choices can ruin a person's life if they let it. To me anyways she was so incredibly cute and after Mean Girls she had so much going for her. Such a shame. It's actually kinda depressing looking at these pictures knowing how she's turned out.

Nope, I've said exactly what I've said since this became the DJ and Ron show. Sorry.
The difference here is: I'm not trying to say I like CD (or don't, or just a portion of it when it's convenient) when I never even bought it, just so my criticisms and attacks on it aren't just brushed off as butthurt trolling. I don't constantly attack this band, members, songs, singer, concerts and try to say I'm still a fan of them. I appreciate what's there, point out what I don't like, but don't belabor it. I can say I prefer a certain groups music, musicans, without constantly taking it out on the new group. If I didn't like what I was hearing I wouldn't bother posting about it. I much, much, much, much, much rather have the 02 line up as a band and original material.
If I hated them I wouldn't waste my time on the main GN'R boards and I sure as shit wouldn't hesitate to say it. I've always said I'd rather have the vault untouched than original stuff from DJ and RON, but I would be open to it. Maybe I'm surprised. But I'll take Robin back in a heartbeat over DJ.
give it up. You're so caught in your own little web. Crying and moaning again that I didn't buy the album. Get it fucking straight ID, we've gone over this a million times. I was never buying CD whether I liked it or not. The reason I didn't buy it is well known so you can stop with the bullshit that i didn't buy it because I hate the band and pretend to be a fan. I don't and never have constantly attacked members of the band. I've been critical of Axl Rose and his antics and performance yet I'm a guy who's contantly stood up for him when it comes to his weight and shit like that. I've simply stated which songs I don't like which ones I do like just as anyone else. Differece between you and me is I do give a shit about THIS band, would love to hear them do something of their own. You sit here now and say how you don't give a shit about them and would way rather have a 2002 reunion yet you fuking chastize people who wanted a 87-93 reunion as people living in the past who can't get over it Bahahahahaha!
Hilarious how hypcritical and contradicting your last few posts have been and you can't even see it.
