Holy shit this one is tough for me.  Both of these rank in the top of the list for me in their respective genres.

I finally went with Shawshank.

As much as I love the whole BTTF triliogy, I gotta go with Empire on this one.

Key difference being a priest won't charge you tens or hundreds of thousands of $$$ for his time (there's a joke in there somewhere but I'll leave it). I've got my own issues with religion but there is a vast difference in the most part between religion and psychics.

Depends what church you're talking about.  The "Church" of $cientology has been known to take people for big bucks, and as mentioned, the sleazy televangelists are always trying to pry money out of the believers' hands.

I'm fascinated by what people choose to believe in and why.  Perhaps we could move this discussion to the Garden.

On topic, this stuff honestly doesn't interest me that much.  I read it and then think "whatever."

But I will say, the letter didn't particularly strike me as being fake.  On one hand, yes it sounds like it was written by a fourth grader, but on the other hand, you can definitely feel some true desperation in there.  Who of us hasn't fucked up with a good friend or been dumped by someone and then wrote a rambling, crazy message like this trying to patch things up.  You write, overthink things, go into detail in weird places trying to explain yourself.

The funny thing is, a lot of times you end up doing more damage by making the person think you're insane.

I dunno.  Looking at the photos, it seems like a stretch to me.  These people are seeing what they want to see in a random clump of rocks.  Amazing thing how the human brain can create recognizable images out of randomness.  Instead of the shadow of a tree and a stump, people see Bigfoot hunched over.  Happens all the time.

After you guys do this, you should work together on a cover tune. One does guitar, the other bass, the other vocals, etc. Someone put it all together into a song.

We could do "I used to Love Her" ..  That'd be a fun song to try.

I'm in!  Sounds like fun.  I could do a drum track first and let you guys record on top of that.

Someday somebody has got to explain to me what goes on in these mouth breathers' brains when they throw shit at the stage.  You've paid good money to see a show.  What do you have to gain?  Maybe you piss the band off enough that they walk out, wasting your money and everyone else's too.  I'm sure everyone will think you're so cool after that, dumbass.  I'm all for getting drunk/enjoying a rock show, but I just don't see the "fun" in this.

What makes people think it's ok to throw shit at performers anyway?  Do they hurl bottles at waiters in a restaurant?  Chuck shit at the girl helping them at the Gap?  Throw shit at their accountant?  Somehow I think not.

I'd be behind Axl 100% for kicking the shit outta that guy.  But, he (or any performer) shouldn't even have to deal with this crap.  Security should throw these clowns right out.

Can't see the streaming thing working in Australia until they make our broadband run at an acceptable speed by international standards. Also what will this do to data charges?

I think i'd rather a machine I keep for 5-10 years, and buying games than huge internet bills, a monthly subscription fee and all kinds of rental costs as well. But then I guess I'm just old school!

I saw them demoing OnLive at the Game Developer's Conference last year.  I gotta say I'm pretty skeptical about the whole thing.  There was definitely perceptible lag between the controller and the action onscreen.  Considering that they were set up specifically to demo their tech, I'd say that's a bad sign.

Maybe it's gotten better since then, but I just don't think we're yet to the point where we can have hundreds of thousands of players on a system like that.  The processing power has to come from somewhere.  I'm quite happy knowing that my Xbox's power is mine alone and I don't have to share it's processing power.  Hell, even with home consoles some games these days have pretty bad lag, screen tearing, and horrible load times.

It was a different world growing up than we live in today that's for sure. None of this rap-girl-butt cam on TV, girl's didn't seem to go around semi-naked when out for the night like they do now....no internet porn.....it was a world where the most likely I was to see a hot body was if the local bra store dropped off a catalogue in my folks letterbox....and damn if that wasn't like christmas......

Sorry for derailing the thread.

That's a worthwhile derail, man.  Comforting to know that I wasn't the only one getting excited by bra catalogues back then. 14
