#191 Re: Guns N' Roses » Which is single worthy? » 868 weeks ago

Of those three choices, I'd have to go with Scraped. It's more catchy and radio friendly than the other two. Sorry would be my favorite out of the three, but it's not the kind of thing they play on the modern rock radio stations. And neither is This I Love.

It does seem odd that we haven't even heard of any random Axl sighting at least. You know, "Axl Rose spotted at trendy New York night club at 4 a.m." kinda thing.

Maybe they've got this all planned out, and he'll have a big press conference to announce the current line up and/or tour, etc. Or a big interview with Kurt Loder or something.

What, because I already pre-ordered, you mean I can't get my free copy of the song I already downloaded two weeks ago?

Maybe they're just doing this because they know it's gonna leak any day now.

A guy on newgnr is claiming CD will be fully leaked within the next 2 days, and also claims he has "This I Love" with out AIM noises or skips.

Even more interesting is that he claims there will be a hidden bonus track. I'm not holding my breath, though.

It's weird to think that he's using ten-year-old vocal tracks for some of these songs.

What did you expect? Axl nailed it on the first take. It's all these other bozos in the band that have taken another decade to get their parts right! 9

#196 Re: Guns N' Roses » When will it leak? *It Leaked* » 869 weeks ago

After listening to the skippy leaks, it seems apparent that these are ripped from a promo CD which has some kind of copy protections. But if promos are out there, it won't be long before someone breaks the protection by recording it from their line-out jack.

To me, the first 30 seconds or so until the skipping starts is a nice little preview of the song. After that, it sounded so shitty I couldn't even stand to finish the songs. I predict that a decent quality leak will be upon us in less than a week.

#197 Re: Guns N' Roses » Alleged Guns N' Roses Leaker Pleads Innocent » 869 weeks ago

The case was cracked by an investigator with the Recording Industry Association of America, according to court records.

Boy, that must have been a tough case to crack, when he posted them on his web page, drew in thousands of hits, and bragged all over about it.

The felony Cogill was charged under requires the authorities to prove the distribution of pre-released, commercial material over the internet for financial gain or commercial advantage.

Under the misdemeanor statute, (.pdf) the authorities must prove copyright infringement of the right of performance, distribution or reproduction accomplished for commercial gain or financial advantage.

The only financial gain he stood to make is increased traffic for his web page (which I'm sure has only grown thanks to the continued media coverage). But seriously, how much advertising income does his blog bring in even now? Probably not much.

And I also find this funny that a deal is being reached (and more free media attention is gained) just as Chinese Democracy promotion kicks into high gear. I know there are some people who thought this was a planned leak all along, just to build interest before the albums release. Which is exactly what this has done.
