It's not that clear. Slash's and Izzy's tones are very bass heavy. Nobody would ever describe the guitar parts on a GNR album post CD as clear. It's not an insult, no need to freak about it, it's just the way it sounds. In my opinion it's that lack of clarity that makes Izzy and Slash gel so well on that record. Every time you listen you hear different things in the mess.
All of this, UYIs miss dual guitar attack that`s what made AFD sonically interesting not songs. On Appetite Slash and Izzy riffed their asses off it was iike competition and it sounded great but on Illusions Izzy`s guitar was, at best, very low in the mix and at worst, completely overdubbed by Slash.

That he does. You can tell from listening to the guy play that he has studied the GNR sound inside out.
He gets a lot of shit for being a poser but when it comes down to it, it's about the music and DJ makes great music.It's too easy to shit on the guy, but I would underestimate him at your peril, the ballad of death alone is proof he can do this album justice.
Ashba makes great music ? very debatable and if Ballad of Death is any indicator of what Mr. Poser can bring to the table, than I`ll pass.

Guitars on UYIs are n`t sharp, they sound very muddy, Izzy`s parts are terrribly missing, Slash overdubbed him plus Matt`s drums sound dated reverb did n`t help him either. Axl used too much synths and effects on his vocals prime examples being Locomotive and Pretty Tied Up.

still think he should have released everything at once ....a two disc affair like the Illusions....2 cd's for the price of one....12 tracks on each disc, take your best 24 songs and release them..attached together...it would have been Axl's The Wall and he could have moved on with his life by now. But as Apex said...everything pretty much fell apart by 2002.

I want them to bury hatchet and be civil at each other it would be a big relief for them both especially Axl, he`ll get big chip off his shoulders and would be more focused to carry on with Guns`, but it won`t happen`cause neither Axl nor Slash will ever make first step. There`s no chance in hell that Axl will ever budge and admit his guilt he`s too arrogant, too stubborn to do so plus he`s serrounded himself with leaches who only care about their bank accounts nor will Slash ever approach Axl he`s 100 % certain that he`s done nothing wrong.
