#201 Re: Guns N' Roses » How do you feel about CD potentially being the last GNR album? » 110 weeks ago
I love the album, but I would like a remix/remaster one day to make it more rocky.
But I also don't think it will be the last GNR record - I think we'll eventually get some type of new album using the stuff Slash/Duff redid along with whatever else.
Knowing GNR we won't like what it contains entirely or how it's presented to us - but it will eventually happen I think.

Shacklermyrye wrote:AI isn't there yet but it will be at some point, fan remixes take a lot more time without AI than I think they will with it. You only need to ask Evader how many hours he plunged into his version on The general. If AI speeds it up there will be more and the fanbase will be flooded.
I'm very much looking forward to being able to, for example, feed an AI the demo version of Hardschool and the released Hard Skool, and saying, "Replace the drums on the finished version with the drums from the demo." Or "Replace the vocals on This I Love with the ones from the remix, dial up the orchestra a fraction and replace the solo with Slash's live version from Orlando 2016." We're not far off being able to do that sort of thing.
Indeed.
Ages ago when they had those rudimentary websites that used filters to 'remove' the vocal lines from songs I took Slash's "made in stoke" live version of nightrain and removed the vocals. Then I grabbed Rock Am Ring 2006 nighttrain and ripped Axl's vocal line - then manually cut and pasted the parts into place.
It was a bit clunky cos my DAW at the time was fucked, and the rips of the 'isolated' vocals and instrumentals were echoy and not clean at all cos the tech was new......but even so it was almost passable as an epic live version we never got. I can imagine the same thing done with more modern tech and automatically would start to bring some truely awesome stuff.

I wish they would just release them properly.
Like I mean slash says he already did a handful.
Not like it would take him more than a few days to do more.
Absurd/Hardschool came up pretty great - like they're a bit different but they work in a playlist.
It's dumb that people who love the music are reduced to buying tape bootlegs with DJ or Robin from some trader in south america when somewhere Slash and Duff have rerecorded these songs in HD.

I'm confused but I think James was saying there's a second album worth of leftover tracks that also leaked around the time of the Cather/Hardschool leaks in the early 2000s but that is less circulated.
Additionally I think I recall MSL saying he had follow up to CD album pre-reunion around the time he had all Axl's documents/laptop or whatever it was and was threatening to release it himself if the band didn't release some details soon. His deadline came and went and all that happened was he became pro-team brazil and Axl all of a sudden. I can only speculate as to why.
#205 Re: Guns N' Roses » Why do people tend to take Tommy's word for everything? » 110 weeks ago
Slightly off topic but I hope they reuse the verses of "Eye on You" as well.
I know people make fun of the "mac daddy" part but the melody of the other lyrics aside from that part is awesome.
I also agree that TIL dance remix version has 2009-2010 style vocals - the timbre of the screams and the way he adds "yeaaaahhh" into the end of them was a thing he was doing live in that era. Then again I guess they are not wildly dissimilar from the twat/irs screams recorded years earlier either so maybe there's just dozens of versions of TIL somewhere from earlier.
Songs like State of Grace and Eye on You give me hope though as they seem a different style than a lot of the other tracks and sort of appeared out of nowhere. I kinda hope there's other songs like that.

Axl's voice is too iconic for these to end up in a dust bin.
Remember in 2002 when Elvis has a #1 hit with "A Little Less Conversation"
Eventually this stuff will be released in some format you'd think, hopefully by the band on an offical release.
But possibly by fernando's great great grandkids working with the artists of that day, or possibly next time someone finds a tape in a drawer after a hire in the congo or something. Maybe when Indiana Jones is digging up the remains of our civilisation.
Eventually they will come out. Everything does.

Waiting out 2024?!? You would give them a 2 year free pass on top of how long you've already waited?
I wouldn't like it.
But I just want to hear these songs properly finished like Absurd/Hardschool were.
I think the leaks we got with vocals had cool melodies and vocals, finished up with Slash an album of them would make a nice ending to the saga creatively.
I think it's interesting too because vocally and creatively they feature a younger Axl who probably had more desire in him to songwrite or at least less vocal damage than these days - so the end product is likely to be pretty solid still.
In an alternative world things would have gone smoother for Axl and he would have released his grand trillogy or whatever, or better yet, they never would have broken up and just released versions of these songs back in 1999 or whenever.
But at this point I would just really like to see it done before something happens to them or us!
But yeah we're getting to the point where if they do that, plus a fairwell cycle, then it needs to start pretty soon, cos you'd think with all their histories of physical abuse of themselves they may not be in global juggernaught shape past about another 10 years.

It's starting to feel like the shutters are going down on 2023.
Which is tough, that Absurd/Hardschool release really whet my appetite for the other few they did at the same time.
In August it will be 2 years I think.
I would be down with waiting out 2024 if we knew it would happen in 2025 but realistically it feels like ever year I write off the year and hope for next year.
I remember in 2016 being convinced the reunion album would happen before 2020

The Axl screams in State of Grace are cool as fuck, throw Slash and Duff on there ala Hardschool and Absurd and I'm a happy camper.
Perhaps is a great song too.
At this point, put those out, maybe something like a re-worked OMG or something similar and it would be a nice little EP for us kiddos.
What makes me sad is most of my favourite bands are winding up and or dying and whatever. It's the way of things. But I'd rather this stuff came out before it's too late. Hopefully they feel the same way.

I feel there's at least 2 possible cycles we could yet see:
1. An original EP/Album comprised of the remaining locker CD tracks, some of the other 'vault' tracks that Axl has had for many years, possibly padded out by including Hardschool/Absurd or re-done stuff like a new OMG or even CD songs with Slash/Duff touch Better/TIL etc. In theory they could add on brand new stuff written for this project too - but given its them and the backlog of unreleased stuff - I'd say finishing stuff like 'perhaps' is more likely. They could then mount an entire tour around this concept USA/Europe/Festivals/Asian Markets/South American etc in seperate legs.
I figure that plus a few breaks between legs - plus a delay getting it done and rest when its over would easily fill the next 5 or 6 years.
which brings us to
2. A Farewell cycle - in the tradition of Motley/Aerosmith etc - an offical we're wrapping it up tour of greatest hits. Do this for a few years as well as people do.....
and well that puts Axl and Slash into close to 70 where they can be the elder statesmen of rock and come out when they feel like it for random performances or whatever. (Slash being slash I imagine he would go the BB king route and tour forever). Axl seems more likely to retire seeing as he seems to value privacy etc.
I mean we may get nothing at all at this point.
But i feel like both those two options are still yet possible while they live and breathe etc.
