Mojo…That dude destroyed that forum
I haven't talked to him in about 3-4 years. I don't really have anything against the guy.
Having said that...
What killed GNR Truth was the immediate censoring of the Village leaks. That forum was still rocking and rolling at that point. It went from tons of activity to a ghost town overnight. I checked it a year or two later and there were 2-3 people hanging in.
You can't prevent a starving fan base from listening to and discussing leaks. Well you can...but you see the results.
HTGTH also nosedived in activity from a similar approach.
I kinda understand where they were coming from...it was a MASSIVE leak and as we now know, GNR wound up releasing a few of those songs.
Like I said though...it's just not feasible with this fan base. Don't forget...mygnr and HTGTH initially considered such an approach in 2006-7.
Try to stop discussion...people just go to one of the other forums.
Look how many GNR forums have existed over the decades and how few were left once we got to the reunion, Village Leaks, and today.
It had a good run.
For the record, this Finck dude is definitely NOT Mojo.

Lol, I can’t think of another new era song that’s stuck with me like this one
The original 2006 Better leak was one hell of an earworm.
I really, REALLY hope they release The General online soon. We need that one in better quality really, REALLY bad.

Why get bent out of shape over this? This world view isn’t new, it’s been the predominant view of leftist policies since at least the 70s, and has been mainstream progressive orthodox since the late 90s. This isn’t the first time Israeli children have been raped and murdered by the militant wing of the official Palestinian authority.
I don’t know if you forgot, but jihadis have never hesitated to use child murder and torture as a suppression tactic. They genuinely believe the invisible man in he sky justifies these atrocious acts because Jews are literally Satan and America’s their lapdog.
Those supporting them certainly haven’t forgotten. The last time the Palestinians held an election, they voted 95% for candidates that support the genocide of Israel.
Yeah they've been doing this shit forever. I remember watching CNN as a teenager and seeing daily suicide bombings. Crazy shit...on buses, in malls, clubs....
This was their worst yet. Pure depravity. The 5th circle of hell.
Combine it with the level of support they're getting here and it's off the charts insanity.
It will probably wind up being a huge election issue here. I can see the ads now...footage of huge crowds of college students cheering on terrorists, the Squad's refusal to support Israel....with the let's make America great again slogan.

He is def a troll. And he ruined two general threads
imagine calling me of all people the biggest defender of slash when this is the first nice thing I have said about slash in over 20 years bc I think if its him on Monsters I think its his best work on the CD era stuff bc the rest was crap.
I want to know whose alt this is.
Can James just prune all his posts about Robin in both threads and dump them into a thread of its own, debating who is on these songs so it doenst ruin two threads.
He's gone now but he actually isn't a troll. Well...not a typical troll anyways. He's a true believer in everything he says. I remember this guy from the Finck forums in 2007-8. He popped back up here during the Village leaks. Had to ban him of course.
He doesn't mean any harm but Jesus Christ...it's incessant. I'd like to have just let him post but it's literally killing real discussion.
#205 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns n roses played the general » 97 weeks ago
The ASCAP listing having both the songs gets even more confusing.
My three theories for it now:
1) It's meant to be two separate listings and the TB Elite Management Team fucked up
2) It's meant to be together on a full album-like release but it's split up for the B-Side.
3) Monsters was meant to be a hidden track on the end of The General on the Perhaps vinyl
It's #1.
The vocals may be new then?

Too bad he didn't yell for Oklahoma...

There's the declaration signed by those students at Columbia.
10/7 wasn't a terrorist attack. It was a "counter offensive".
These people are maniacs. In a normal world, there wouldn't be people lining up to defend them.
The massacre was apparently an "act of liberation".

He's such a perfectionist!!
Welcome to the forum.

I thought Monsters was pretty solid. Would've worked on ChiDem, but now I'd rather just have a straight ahead rock song from them.
As for The General... perhaps the saddest thing, is finding out that during the years when GN'R fans were being starved of new music and also being denied a reunion, that this is what he was doing in the studio.
the funny thing is, the music on all the leaks and village sessions is really great
the weak link on most of the songs is axls lyrics and voiceThis. Yes! I remember saying this at Rock In Rio 2001! I waited up to watch, already decided I hated the new band (cuz Slash), and by the end of the show I thought that Axl had been the weak link in the performance.
I bet you hated the next 20 years because Rio 2001 was new GNR's peak.

Miguelox26 wrote:I always thought that the leaks of better, irs, there was a time and the subsequent ones were leaked from within in order to promote the material and see how the fans reacted, the record company was not clear about the sales, they delayed as much as they could. album and re-recorded it until they dared to release it, also a possible meeting with slash, that was the intention of the label, manager and promoters. Even village and the storage room, but that was coincidental, not premeditated like these leaks. And the same day that the general had to be published is leaked along with another unreleased song, the same bogus operandi!
I can say definitively in the case of IRS that this isn't accurate. There was a panicfest of epic proportions when it occurred and radio stations across the country (that were literally operated by robots overnight during that Trunk show broadcast) had people getting called in / woken up to go to the stations and ENSURE tapes were erased, etc. This was especially a 'thing' when it came to stations under the clear channel corporate umbrella. The satellite upfeed for Trunk's show was basically edited in real time for the repeat to ensure that not only was the song gone but any damn mention of it / reactions to it were as well - there was some serious chaos that occurred at more than a few radio stations when all that happened.
Now, do I believe Piazza's story about a random CD in his mail? Not necessarily - but I don't think for a moment that leak was intentional (as in, done by the band or the label) - you have to go by the immediate reactions that occurred at the time. Some people deserve Oscars if it was all an act.
You want an indication of how hardcore the reaction was? There were a lot of people in this country at the time who taped / traded radio shows.. (Trunk's show.. Dr. Demento.. Coast to Coast.. etc etc) - this is in the earlyish days of them evolving to doing that sharing over the Internet.. (I'm talking people with garages FULL of DAT tapes labeled like 'Coast To Coast 11-15-98 - Host: Art Bell' and everything else.)
Try talking to those people and finding a copy of that Trunk show.. good f'n luck - because OMG did I go through the effort at the time.. let's just say, due to my experiences at the time - I'm more than 80% convinced at least some people were paid to ensure those tapes don't exist.
Still boggles my mind how f'n QUICK they reponded to what happened, too - Minutes.. not hours.. Just another chapter in the less than normal that is this band.. lolz.
Yeah that whole thing is bat shit crazy.
The sick thing about it is how they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The 2003 IRS thing was a huge story. GNR could've easily capitalized on the situation. That should've instantly been placed on the launch pad as a single.
Instead they did everything in their power to destroy that killer buzz.

It does bring up a good question...
Does anyone still have any of the 2002 merch?
#210 Re: Guns N' Roses » Oh My God Question » 97 weeks ago
I can't find OMG on Spotify. Why wouldn't it be on there?
Some sort of rights issue with the label/soundtrack?
