it's good you're being nice now. a couple weeks ago you were calling axl dumb and were ready to have him committed.

So people aren't allow to criticize when they feel it's warranted and praise him when he is deserving? I don't know, to me that sounds like what a fair, open-minded person would do.

I've been critical and negative towards Axl, but I have no problem with giving him props for taking his time out to answer some questions for the fans. I think it was a great move by Axl and hopefully he will pop in occasionally. When he interacts he comes across as a very likeable guy and I think that would go a long way to win back the fans and cut down on the negativity.

Though I still think he's being selfish by going on stage so late. 16

Seems a little too late, but better late than never I suppose. Kudos to him for taking the time out to answering the questions to the people that matter the most. I haven't read the transcript, but it's good to know things aren't dead as I thought they were.

I think WeTheLiving summed it up nicely. I think everyone felt that the release of Chinese Democracy would signify a return to normalcy for Axl and the band, but instead it has just served as a highlight of the absurdity of this whole project. There's not much to get excited about when the album is not new to any of us and there is no foreseeable future for this band. Chinese Democracy will turn out to be the death knell for Guns N Roses. There is no band and I can't imagine Axl will release any more material from this ridiculous project. I also can't imagine him going back to Slash and Duff with his tail between his legs. The sad fact is he would have been better off leaving it unreleased.

Some of those reviews are pretty comical though.

I would have to make an educated guess that Black Ice would sell as well worldwide as GNR's new album. AC/DC is pretty damn international.

GnR is every bit as international as AC DC; their big advantage here in the states was market shrewdness.

It's not even marketing shrewdness. It's marketing common sense. Release a classic sounding single + do a video + tour behind it + promo the fuck out of it. Nothing earth shattering there, but apparently that's over Axl's head.

I truely believe that had the old band recorded on this album, and it been promoted with Slash & Duff doing interviews...

People would be calling it the greatest GN'R album ever, and it would've went instant-platinum in the first week... or at least Death Magnetic numbers.

Alot of people just flat out HATE Axl and refuse to buy CD or give it a chance artistically. It's sad.

If The World, TWAT, Catcher, Sorry, Maddy, This I Love & Prostitute are among some of the best ever recorded under the name - GUNS N' ROSES.

Well of course a record released by the old band would have done much better. The first GNR record in 15 years recorded by the real band would have received more hype and would have resonated better with the casual fan.  Not to mention a reunited band would mean promo, a tour, and likely a music video. It would be entirely different.

Though I disagree people would be calling it the greatest GNR album ever. I think a lot of people would be very disappointed to hear most of the songs you listed instead of a balls to the wall rock album. It might even be slammed more than it is right now. Axl could get away with releasing that type of music, but I don't think the lineup that recorded AFD could.

I know we've got some radio guys here. What are some up to date numbers on Better? Maybe they should unload a new single next week.

LOL unload a new single? Better is the catchiest song on the album. I think they should give it some time to hit. Lots of stations are still playing CD instead of Better.

Yeah, I wonder if they released it too soon and it will get lost in the shuffle.

I don't know the national numbers, but I checked WMMR in Philly to see if it's getting played. Better hasn't been played at all in the last 24 hours. It also wasn't played when I checked a couple of days ago so I'm starting to think they haven't played it since it has been released to radio. Chinese Democracy in comparison has been played 3 times in the last 24 hours which seems pretty standard since it's been released. They also played Catcher once and TWAT once which I thought was interesting.

That's good.

Unfortunately, it will no longer be in the US Top 10 next week. http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi
Which means there will be a drop in sales of at least 70%.

Ouch. Worse than I thought. Though the world sales is good news.
