#211 Re: Guns N' Roses » Tommy is out(?) » 510 weeks ago
If a (partial) reunion with Duff won't happen, I'm certain Tommy will get the call and be there when Axl needs a bass player. The Mats are over (again) and I don't seem him making his solo career his permanent focus. Sadly, he won't make enough money with it.
I'm pretty sure you're joking, but there wasn't even a sniff of GNR except for that quick mention. I don't think he even referenced Frank as being "from GNR" when he introduced him.
I'm not very familiar with his stuff so I don't know for sure what it all was. I think it was all his solo stuff and I was told the last two songs were from his band Bash & Pop that he put together after the Replacements. It was a really good rock show though.
Tommy never playes any stuff from the Mats or GN'R at his solo gigs (obviously not counting 'You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory', which he used to play way before he even was in GN'R). A recent setlist of his that I've seen looked like this:
Not This Time (new song)
Makes Me Happy (from his band Perfect)
It's A Drag (from One Man Mutiny)
Don't Deserve You (from One Man Mutiny)
Bad News (new song)
Anybody Else (new song?)
Meant To Be (from One Man Mutiny)
Breating Room (new song)
Come What May (new song?)
Zero To Stupid (from One Man Mutiny)
Come To Hide (from One Man Mutiny)
Destroy Me (from One Man Mutiny)
Can't Be Bothered (new song)
Making Of An Asshole (from his band Perfect)
Not A Moment Too Soon (from Village Gorilla Head)
On The Rocks (new song?)
Motivation (from Village Gorilla Head, also frequently played at GN'R shows)
Alt. Monkey (from his band Perfect)
Aim To Please (from his band Bash & Pop)
Friday Night Is Killing Me (from his band Bash & Pop)

I think that my guess is...that at some point someone is going to call me and tell me what's up with that.
I don't read that as 'he's out'. He may not be involved in anything right now, but when he finally gets that call he might just as well be there again. It's basically what he said in that other interview before.
The only thing suggesting that GN'R actually might continue without him is that it seems that Richard and Dizzy have information that he doesn't.

Personally I don't get the hate. Especially towards the solo.

I can't agree with that. I've actually listened to CD a few times in the past weeks and found myself liking this song more than I did a few years ago.
If The World is such a jam. Bucket's acoustic playing on it is beautiful. Mother Goose gets the Bond vibe spot on production wise. Seems like a song everyone had fun in being a part of.
I'm not saying it's a bad song. It certainly has its moments, but overall I don't like Axl's vocal melody too much on that one.

When can fans expect to see the new solo album?
I’m doing it right now. I have a studio in my house with a tracking room and a separate control room with an old Neve board, and all my vintage amps. I’m trying to get something together for this year; I didn’t realize how long it’d been since I put out a solo record.Who’s helping you?
I’m using the guys in my solo touring band, which gigs pretty much all the time; it’s E.J. Cursh playing bass and Troy Patrick Farrell on drums. When we get together to rehearse for tours, I’ll show them some new tunes and we’ll start knocking them out.
Here's the link to the full interview!

Great news, I like his solo records and have been waiting patiently

Well, what else is he supposed to say?
Cant he at least add a couple words?
The irritating thing is that the comments are always so generic. How about actually going into some detail? Kim Thayil has already given more detail on SG's next album and Dizzy is unable to comment on 14 year old material? If unwilling or unable, why discuss it in the first place?
I realize any comment gives a shred of hope for next year but some detail sure wouldn't hurt.
Well, clearly he can't say more than that. They all seem to have a contract that forbids them to do so. Yet, people will never stop asking them. The only other alternative he has is to not answer these questions anymore at all, and he can't really do that either, can he?

This apology has clearly gone wrong. More oil into the fire of reunion speculations.
#220 Re: Guns N' Roses » Dissecting Chinese Democracy: Track 8 - Scraped » 511 weeks ago
Agreed.
What I also find disppointing is that they re-named some songs and chose titles that sound worse than the orginal idea. 'Lies They Tell' or 'The Blues' were much better titles than 'Scraped' and 'Street Of Dreams' imo.
