#221 Re: The Sunset Strip » STONE TEMPLE PILOTS return with CHESTER BENNINGTON as their FRONTMAN! » 615 weeks ago
(Gibson) Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo spoke to Rolling Stone about the band's decision to fire their original frontman Scott Weiland and how the band is doing with their new singer, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, bassist Robert DeLeo explained: "It was a very difficult decision to terminate the face of your band. But we really didn't have any other choice. I don't want to get too into that right now because of legal things, but Dean, Eric and I have been saddled by someone for a long time.
"We've always looked out for Scott's best interests and tried to be a great friend to someone who really didn't care to be friends with us…. I don't think we had any other choice. We knew that was what we wanted before we thought about getting another singer."
The band's forthcoming EP, High Rise, features Linkin Park's Chester Bennington as frontman. Bennington told Rolling Stone he's transitioned smoothly into the new role.
"I'm just coming in here and doing the same things I would do normally, only I'm writing different music with different guys. STP is moving forward without Scott 100 percent, whether I say yes or no. So I'm just glad that it's me, because I am such a big fan of the band." more on this story http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/N … en-Up.aspx

I love half the artists this dude just shit on, and he is way off on a few of these. Like Tupac, his 'Me Against the World' and 'All Eyez on Me' albums were masterpieces. His lyrics were deep, true to life, often provocative, sometimes even touching. Some colleges even analyze them as part of their literature classes. In my personal favorite album, 'The 7 Day Theory', he applies the teachings of Macavrli's 'the Prince' and 'the art of war' to street life in LA in the 90. It's fucking brilliant. The man had talent, you can't deny that. If you think he's a shitty artist, it's just because you don't get what he's saying or where he's coming from.

Sucking, much like talent, is a complex thing with several different levels and degrees of severity. It comes in many forms and is often not as easy to spot as you might think. Rather than an all-encompassing "find a new job" kind of suck, many bands and musicians just have one fatal flaw that keeps them from being mentioned among the true music greats of the world.
If your favorite band or musician has never quite gotten the recognition you think they deserve, give this article a quick read. Maybe it will shed some light on what went wrong. Here are five subtle clues your favorite band secretly sucks.
#226 The Sunset Strip » Sebastian Bach Says He Was Once Asked to Replace Vince Neil » 616 weeks ago

Sebastian Bach says he was once asked to replace Vince Neil in Motley Crue, but turned down the gig in order to remain in his old band, Skid Row: “Gee I sure know how to pick em.”
The singer briefly recounted the story while answering fans questions via his Twitter account. It started when a fan asked Bach if he was ever considered for the Motley Crue singing job after Neil split from the group back in 1992. “Not considered. Asked,” was his reply. He then went on to explain his thinking at the time:

We may get a more in-depth version of this intriguing story in the near future, as Bach revealed that he is working on an autobiography. Neil rejoined Motley Crue back in 1997, and the group is currently preparing to invade Las Vegas for a series of shows billed as an “Evening in Hell.”
Despite sporadic rumors of a reunion over the years, Bach has yet to reunite with his former Skid Row bandmates since leaving the group in 1996.

Very sad news, my thoughts and prayers go out to them and their family.
---------------
There is very sad news to report regarding Ozzy Osbourne‘s family. His son Jack’s wife Lisa has suffered a miscarriage and the couple have lost their baby boy.
The couple were married in October 2012 after welcoming their first child into the world in April the same year. Lisa revealed the unfortunate news on her website, explaining very understandably that she needed some time after the incident to make a public announcement:
I have been dreading this announcement … I needed some time before being able to say it. Jack and I lost our baby boy last week. Having a late-term miscarriage is by far the hardest thing either of us have ever had to go through. We appreciate all of your prayers and ask for privacy and respect during this time. It’s important to stay hopeful and optimistic through life’s toughest moments. We never know why things like this happen. All we can do is trust in God and know he has a plan for our lives.
Jack & Lisa
Our thoughts and sympathy are with Jack, Lisa, Pearl and the rest of the Osbourne family.

That cover of Toxic is pretty cool. Since we're going with covers I'll stick with that as well as with 30 Seconds to Mars
Pretty damn amazing
That's pretty cool, as was the acoustic 30stm video you posted recently. It's not really by brand of vodka, but Jared does have a helluva voice.

#230 The Garden » Cronut craze has sparked $40-a-pop black market for the pastry » 616 weeks ago

Would you pay $40 for a doughnut? Sounds nuts, right?
A few weeks ago, we reported on the advent on the cronut --which basically is croissant dough fried like a doughnut. That was the first day the pastry was for available for sale publicly, and the first batch sold out in in just 35 minutes.
Since then, despite enforcing a six-cronut limit, Ansel Bakery in New York City sells out of its 200 daily run within minutes of opening at 8am. The cronut is the brainchild of pastry chef Dominique Ansel, named one of the “Top 10 Pastry Chefs in the United States” by Dessert Professional Magazine. The must-have pastry, which sells for $5, is reportedly so desirable that frustrated customers unable to get their hands on it have resorted to tears and abuse towards staff.
"One woman legitimately cried," Ansel said on Twitter, adding "it is not OK to flip off our baristas because we are out of Cronuts."
So are we surprised that three weeks of being available for sale there has essentially been a black market built about around the things? Heck, no.
Now cronuts are now being scalped on Craigslist for up to eight times their original retail price. And in New York City fashion, they're available for delivery by scalpers in Manhattan ($20 each), Queens ($30 each), and Brooklyn $40 each).
Here's the ad:
CRONUT PICKUP - Dominique Ansel Bakery - $20 (SoHo)
I will be going down to Dominique Ansel Bakery tomorrow morning (Saturday May 25th) to beat the line and pick up the max of 6 CRONUTS allowed per customer. If you would like one of these devine creations I am willing to pick up and deliver them to your door for the below prices. Of course the max you can have me deliver is 5 Cronuts as I will be eating one myself.
Manhattan Delivery - $20 per Cronut ($25 above 59th Street)
Queens - $30 per Cronut
Brooklyn - $40 per Cronut
I will be picking up the Cronuts and delivering them promptly to your door step to enjoy with your Saturday breakfast!
Ansel told FoxNews.com that the black market cronuts are a concern, but that he trusts his customers. "Our Cronuts remain $5, and we hope to produce more by the day. Hopefully this will give Cronut lovers a more affordable and legal way to get Cronuts."
Looks like cronuts could be the new cupcake, and cupcakes are going by way of bacon. What do you think?
