The Chinese Democracy WORLD TOUR!

6 years before it's going to be released

Maybe Axl's just really innovative by promoting the album long before it's released. tongue

It also doesn't help, that Axl probably needed to be (and i'm being very serious) committed years ago for observation. He needs help.

It doesn't help when you're batshit insane, and you are surrounded by opportunists that simply hang on to you for money, and whatever warped idea of fame they think they're going to get.

If anything Erin said had an ounce of truth back in the day, the man needed a padded room then.

I think Axl is definitely mentally ill, but I don't think he is insane and needs to be committed. He's just really insecure.  Being surrounded by yes men has definitely enabled him to close himself off from the real world and keep him in his own warped reality. It's sad that the people that surround him doesn't realize he hasn't been in a healthy place and needs to be grounded back to reality. Then again he'd probably cut him out of his life if they tried. I really feel for Axl on this issue.

HAHA

I made a thread at HTGTH about 5 years ago titled "GNR Fans have battered wife syndrome"

and it didnt get deleted back then!

I've said that for years. Its the only sort of band/fan relationship where the fans feel honored to be a fan instead of the way it should be.

The whole thing is fucking hilarious. As I said, Axl Rose is quite possibly the biggest joke in the music industry. If he's not at the top of the list, he's right there with the likes of Michael Jackson. These are singers who are worshipped by people who don't understand that the musician is supposed to respect the fans in order to receive respect from the fans. It's a pretty simple concept that has been practiced for hundreds of years. But for some reason, these people don't understand such a simple idea.

Some people just have a screwed up notion as to what a fan is. In their minds being a fan of someone means you have to blindly worship and support them no matter what. To me that's just silly idol worship, but I guess it makes them feel better about themselves.

Axl's a good musician, but being a good musician doesn't make him some sort of demi-god that should be worshipped. He's a flawed human being just like the rest of us. He isn't above criticism.  Writing some good tunes doesn't automatically earn him respect for the rest of his life. Respect is earned through actions and character. I'm sorry to say Axl hasn't earned much in quite some time.

So let me get this straight

Axl will sell his album to the highest bidder but won't "Prostitute" himself and do promo?

sort of hypocritical eh?

He took Best Buy's money and ran.

The Best Buy exclusive wasn't a good deal in the amount of records sold, that I think can certainly be argued.  But it was a GREAT deal for the bands management.  They got a shitload of money upfront, regardless of sales.  Not sure if Axl was on board for the whole ride.  When was the last time we heard from him anyway?  He hasn't been heard in since the release date was announced right?

That's a good point. Who knows, without an exclusive CD might not have been released. The exclusive wiped out all of Axl's debts.

SALES MATTER

If CD flops, do u think we will get another CD from Axl who barely released this one? He will go back into hiding forever if this flops.

That is why it MATTERS

U have the CD, I am happy for u. for us to have future CDS and to have Axl around, this CD needs to validate him.

Yeah, not to mention a second CD wouldn't do as well the next time around unless they can come up with a huge radio hit. It might see the falloff that VR saw with Libertad.

The reason the entire online fan base is "underwhelmed" is because CD turned out to be a "leaks album" with 3 bonus tracks. Its hard for hard cores to get excited and analyze tracks they've heard thousands of times already.

If that wasn't enough, the icing on the cake was how the whole thing was handled. Amateurish liner notes, Axl in hiding, the lukewarm reaction to the album, chart position, Dr Pepper fiasco, and last but certainly not least, the album wasn't as good as most had envisioned.

When you take all these ingredients and mix them together, the end result is a very jaded fan base biting its fingernails.

I actually never had an issue with the fact it was leaks + 3. We knew for years that for the most part, you could be guaranteed songs like CD, Maddy, Street, IRS & Riad were going to be on the album, and of course later Better & TWAT. That's half the album right there.

So that was not a disappointment imo. It'd been more of a disappointment, to get the first album, full of unheard material, then get the second album (with the 14 tracks on CD). You'd be so far removed from that live material, it'd leave you with a reaction of - WTF?

I think James is correct. It's not that the fan base is necessarily disappointed that the album contained 11 songs we've already been familiar with because as you said we already expected many of these songs to be on the album. It's just that being familiar with these songs tempers the excitement because we've already spent that initial excitement of hearing these for the first time long ago. I think the attitude of the fan base would be a bit different if these songs were brand new to us because we'd be busy dissecting these songs to focus solely on Axl's silence. We've already done that so Axl's silence is all we have to focus on. I'm not saying it's anyone's fault or anything. It's just the reality of the situation.

Anybody starting to think that Axl one that's been around for years, is looking more 'bad ass'?

I'd much rather hang at his table... Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles, Mountain Dew, Nacho Cheese Doritos, Pepperoni Pizza.... fuck yeah.

VH's is all fruit, or in Dave case... cottage cheese.

I never seen Axl's but no wonder why he had to wear baggy jerseys at some point. tongue
