It’s 2 songs imo….subject matter is completely different….General is about child abuse and Monsters is about Seymour….again, just my opinion.
But why would they put two songs as a bside on a record when just one of them would have matched Perhaps on the A side much better.
Also it seems when people upload the Monster part to youtube the copyright claim is for The General.
The whole thing is weird but it woudnt be GNR if i was not weird right

https://i.postimg.cc/Hk7T9swC/Screenshot-79.pngThen they are going to release the two songs? The General+Monsters separated
I still think the leaker split the songs. I think its one song bc the general orchestration appears in both songs, also the cell phone audio from years ago is what is on Monsters
That being said, I said they should split the song into two since they work better as two different songs and it would make it easier on Axl to sign two different songs than another 10 min song

It seems Axl is mumbling something else during the verses of the General. Can anyone make it out?
What part? Can you give the lines you are talking about

My first thought was that Monsters will be spliced onto this song as a type of Rocket Queen outro. I don't see any other way they could be combined. If so, I am expecting a pretty epic song to come out of it. Both of the songs have very good melodies from Axl, but the production is a mess. Feels aimless. Combine them somehow, some kickass guitar parts from Slash, and you have a monster.
The guitar and bass on Monsters sounds like slash and duff, they sound like music from a VR song
hell the bass in Monters sounds like slither in parts.I would be shocked if Monsters wasnt slash and duff. Sure Robin sounds like slash on some of the Village stuff like in Oklahoma but I dont hear any BH on Monsters which would be off.
The odd thing is The General sounds more like the 1999 band than the current one but that could be Fortus doing the shredding.
It sounds like Slash and Duff at parts, but the overall sound does not mesh with their other releases. This sounds very 1999.
It would also make sense for the hoarders to offload some old tracks about to lose value. It makes less sense for somebody to gain access to recordings from 2019. The band are not leaking these.
It would be funny if it was not Slash on Monsters since I have said oh its his best guitar work on these CD era re-releases lol
If its not him and we get another version and its crap like HS and Perhaps, Ill be even more disapointed lol
But I think the guitar and bass on Monsters sounds very VRish all the way through. It would be funny if Tommy wrote a bass line like in Slither all the way back in 1999.

At the show he dove deep into nostalgia, with only a few token new tracks included.
New people and new songs at his disposal, but he chickened out and did oldies, which cheated us fans, cheated the band, and invited comparisons to the original lineup.
I've looked at those 2001-02 set lists. They look even worse with hindsight.
How many Appetite for Destruction songs were being performed on the 'Chinese Democracy Starts Now!' tour?
.
They started off with having Oh my god, Riad, Silkworms, Chin Dem, the blues and madagascar.
Then dropped the first three pretty quickly for some odd reason. And just had three. It made no sense
It still is a joke we never got to heard BH on stuff like Sorry, Shacklers, There was a time etc

New take on lyrics, what do you think?
They sound way off
#229 Re: Guns N' Roses » The General and Monsters » 87 weeks ago
I don't like them. Monsters is a bit better un my opinión but these songs doesn't sound like GNR. For me is like a obscure Axl song not radio friendly and not in the average of the GNR catalogue, including Chinese Democracy.
Its because they are CD era songs
like Brian said in an interview, they were sending axl some crazy songs that were nothing like GNR

Sure sounds like Duff’s bass on the intro to Monsters. It’s heavy and clangy. Tommy’s is a little more clean.
yeah it sounds like slither
