I really hope the guys can find a singer, but it's gonna be tough. To me, all the singers nowadays sound the same - like shit.

If Chinese Democracy sells 300 000 in its first week and Contraband sold 250 000, what are the VR haters who say people "bought it out of curiosity" now spew?

If it doesn't, you pack it in and go the reunion route. If something hits, you try to put together the best "new " Gnr possible for a tour. There is a reason that they eliminated the names of bandmembers from the official site posting.

In that regard, you think the nixing of a band member (or was it two?) is your reason for the reunion? What about the Slash dis we just got a couple days after those band names went down? How does that spell reunion?

Do you really think magazines are going to push an unpromoted album when everyone else is yapping their heads off?

It's all in the promotion. Done properly, anyone is a big selling band. There was none. If the managers and band don't care, why should the magazines?

This is what happens when there's no interview, no video, no nothing. People need shit crammed down their throats. The BB exclusivity doesn't help chart position, but the total lack of promotion speaks volumes.

If anything, Axl created his own American Pie with this one, the lyrics could literally mean anything and are perfectly fitting for all subjects at hand.

I give Axl a hard time and Slash a lesser one, having read Slash's book he portrayed himself way too squeaky clean for my liking. I still think Slash is the lesser of the evils, but I think he downplayed the long term effects that Axl would have to endure if the band continued their excesses. I remember Axl commenting on internet fans wanting them to play Estranged (and being pro-Slash) or maybe it was November Rain in a concert rant that went something like "do you have any idea the kind of shit I went through to get those guys to fucking play those songs?" (if anyone has the video, please link me up!), and I think that's especially valid. Slash is the greatest emotional guitar player to me, even better than he is at rocking. Without Axl, does he ever even display this gift? There are HUGE rifts in the quasi-logic that is GNR and it's fine to decipher through them all. No other band was this interesting/good/fucked up.

I just thought of something else. I figured maybe he meant he'd kick Slash's ass in terms of success (perhaps an exchange happened) or maybe threatened to scrap Steven, but in Sorry maybe when he says "I'll kick your ass like I said I would/ You tell them stories they'd rather believe/Use an' confuse them/They're numb and naive" is a follow-up to Get in the Ring (response to Mick Wall's unauthorized bio of him)?

But, "you chose to hurt those that love you and won't set them free" I am still lost on.

Anyone know if Sorry was written post-Slash rant in the media with VR? I figured maybe that'd be a catalyst.

#238 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR Evo members' Chinese Democracy reviews thread » 865 weeks ago

I gave the media/fans/etc... perception a thought when I first heard it and I just think it's too personal in spots to be about random people or internet idiots. I definitely see it.

It could be a combo of all three with just a pent up mixture of emotions, but it seems like Shackler is a lot more against the fanbase and it would suck for him to have gone down the same path twice in different parts of the album. The whole reason I figured it would be Slash and Axl is because Sorry, Madagascar and IRS have a similar theme throughout and I am sure Madagascar at least is about the old guys.

Where is the demonic voice in TWAT?

I admit the album is busy, but it doesn't really bother me. When it doesn't take away from the vocals or mashes everything to where it drowns things way too far out, it's really cool. I mean, how many films have people seen where they pick up on little things each time they watch it because the film was full of art and subtleties?

Am I the only one that thinks the song is a bit about Adler? I mean "no one cares about you" directed at Slash? Huh?

I read somewhere else that Adler had said 'shut up and sing' but I have no idea where that info comes from.
