am i better than you? no. do i know more about music than you? no. but i do honestly believe some can process more than others. i can smoke a joint and listen to catcher (album version) in awe as i soak in the collage of sounds. others can't and that is why this song is not for everyone. no song, ofcourse, is for everyone. you will never find me voluntarily listening to sweet child or novmeber rain.
Millions of stoned hippies loved the grateful dead, too. 
I prefer to not have to be stoned to appreciate Guns and Roses.

Nothing's Shocking changed music, in a way similiar to AFD.
You would often find Axl in those days wearing a Jane's shirt, and lamenting that no one took him seriously.

Something I'm finding interesting is the badmouthing of this thing by D.J.'s.
And of Axl.

people i know dont understand why I'm still a fan of Axl...and they think the album is blah
my wife just smiles and shakes her head when i put it on...she deals with it for me
That's the reaction I get when I bring it up.
"Guns and Roses? Axl is such a dickhead!"
I think that's the number one issue here.
And I don't think it has to do with Slash/Band Breakup/The Name.
By the end of the Illusion tours, public opinion had turned on Axl, and he's done nothing to get it back. If anything, people think he's even weirder now.
People won't give it a chance because it's Axl.
