#231 Re: Guns N' Roses » Ron leaving the band after Vegas? » 567 weeks ago
At this point if Ron's not happy then he really just needs to go. I don't see the current dysfunctional situation with the band changing any time soon, so it's time for him to follow through on his veiled threats. I certainly wouldn't begrudge him for moving on.
He's been good for the band and no doubt GNR has been good for him at times too, albeit a double edged sword. You can't get the good from GNR without also taking on a lot of shit too.

Yeah I have always thought that version was killer!

I would say I lean more towards the Slash side at the minute, mainly since we are getting product and output from him. Sure I haven't liked everything he's done but for me at least he seems liked he's moved on in the main and doesn't care about the petty feud anymore. That said over time I have felt Slash has more blame in the whole break up thing than I previously thought, he just seems to do it in a passive aggressive sort of way rather than Axls cry baby in your face manner.
What I won't cut Axl any slack on is his whoa is me attitude and seemingly refusal to ever take any blame for anything. I really would have thought that a guy his age might have had the mental maturity to leave the past in the past or at least try and deal with it is some appropriate manner if what Slash has done is just so bad. I don't mean deal with it so they can reunite, but rather so he can put that shit behind him and put it out of his mind, it doesn't seem healthy to me.
As for Team Brazil, from what I read Axl had no knowledge of the 3d release or that he had wanted it cancelled or something but they went ahead with it anyhow. I thought it was just the previous money hungry managers that did shit like that? Hell Goldstein was fired for booking a tour that Axl didn't know about, I mean really? There have been numerous instances like this. In the past they usually blamed it on management, guess Team Brazil can't do this when they are now wearing the mgt hat lol.
No surprise they went ahead with it, my guess is they were personally making some $$'s from the release too so probably went ahead to make sure that all the work wasnt wasted (and dollars spent to date wasted). Funny that, things like commercial reality must creep into your decision making when your managing an artist, but thats something Axl doesn't always seem to place as a high priority. He will do something just to prove a point or on principle even if it cost a bucketload of cash. Good luck TB, I'm sure you will be ultimately hired and fired a number of times by Axl. From a fans perspective it could work in our favour as TB try and get shit to happen and released for their own personal financial outcomes.

Very funny if true. Was always going to be a possibility once they became managers, there was nobody else left to blame for things like there was previously.

Just had the one listen so far and it sounded decent. The vocal range for Myles seemed good in this song.

This is only days away... anybody here pre-ordering it? I am definitely thinking about getting it. Come on... it's the first GN'R release since 2008, and the first live video release since 1992.
I will probably pick it up for the reason you mention. Although I won't rush to buy, I will just wait a couple of months then try and jag it when it's in a bargain bin somewhere.

Fans are the real losers.
This!!!
Yes it's selfish for us to wish that they could have sorted their differences out and got back together to make some more music.
But I look at Axl particularly post Guns, during this time in the main he seems to have been fucken miserable (more often than not), or at the least still fighting the world like he was when he was in Guns. Combined this with a distinct lack of any real progression from him makes me wonder what the whole point of the stupid feud was anyhow, at least from a musical point of view.

Yeah I don't have a problem with these guys doing other bits and pieces to make a buck but you still have to be somewhat discerning about what you choose to do. Slash has definitely done the odd cringeworthy one. AI probably fitted into that. As ID pointed out to have tried to discredit it (maybe to look cool) after appearing on it was kinda silly.

Yeah there isn't a lot of money being paid in the music industry these days so u gotta take a buck for what u do when the opportunity presents. I generally don't have a problem with that.
U see some funny shit at times as a result but in the main it's harmless.

That was ugly. I gotta laugh at all the people who used to bag Slash for doing certain promos or endorsements etc. Seems he was ahead of the curve.
Artists gotta do what they have to in today's music environment. I have no problem with Axl doing it, although the music and most of that clip still sucked badly according to my ears and taste.
