Thats all well and good, referring to Fleetwood Mac, VH, Genesis etc, but they each had major hits with their new line-ups, and went on to create alot of output. Something GnR has not managed to do with any line up post UYI.

Faldor, that is one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen.
That's really got to me.

I'm late to the game as usual, but I read through all the pages of this thread. A lot of debate, and opinion. But it is testament to all you guys who posted that this debate didn't turn into an all out abusive piss-fight as I am sure it has on other forums.
Russ - Your last post above says it all, my little son ended up in bed with us last night because he couldn't sleep (he's only 2), he snuggled up next to us and put his arm on me, and I couldn't help but lay awake thinking about what happened.
Whatever the background debate on the subject of guns, I just felt so very sad for the parents of the kids who didn't come home, and the families and friends of the teachers and staff who also didn't come home, and what they must be going through right now.

I love the bit where Axl leans in and adds a bit of a wail, that's really cool.
I'm late to the party on this one, but here's my 2 pence.....
And screw it, I thought the vids for Better / Jungle made it look/sound awful, and at first I winced. But then I thought "who cares?" Really, no matter how it turned out, it was a very cool thing for them to do, for a charity event like that, any of my bitching or analysing doesn't matter one bit, it was just a plain cool thing to do. So fair play.

The whole update is awesome work!
I love the background in "The Black Hole"...... and the mobile version of the site is very cool as well, much easier to navigate and read in bed.

I'll add that when I heard The Black album I was sorely disappointed after Justice. I wanted more epic, winding riffs, not something so stripped down. After a couple of years I got over it.

I hit upon RTL and Justice when I was 13, back in 89, that was it, hooked!!
In fact I listened to Justice the whole way through on my trip home from work tonight, and again thought about how a remaster / remix would sound. I do love the dryness of the drumkit and guitars, but sometimes there is a boomy sound that comes through and seems unnecessary.
Orion though, that's where its at, gotta be my favourite Metallica track without a doubt.
And here's an interesting take on it,
(not sure how to embed youtube....dammit).

The next album is done and was in that state since CD came out and it is all Buckethead//Brain/Finck material which the current band members play over, except trademark eyeliner guy.
"Trademark eyeliner guy" - made me laugh!
Nice topic, brightened my day.

I went last night with Scabbie. It was amazing, jaw droppingly good.
(disclaimer, I am a huge zep fan....)
Kashmir was stunning, In my time of dying was tight, the whole thing was just so damn good.
It was great to see them enjoying it so much, sharing smiles and knowing looks with each other as they played through the set.
Jason was fantastic, and you could see that this meant so much to him, and for other three to see that, they knew too what this meant for him. Fair play.
No warm up shows, 1 night only, and they pretty much nailed it, no BS, no drama. A masterclass in how it should be done. And all 4 of them were just so cool without even trying.
If you get a chance to see this on the big screen, do it.

Every ounce of life just goes out of him when something like this happens. Like NR in Rio this past year. It's painful to watch, I feel for him here.
I agree with you on that, he becomes really static for the rest of the song, and you can see he's really down about it, mixed up the lyrics just adds to it.
It looks like it may have knocked some wind out of him, and he had to get the first line out real quick after falling, props to him for doing that.
