You're right.... Hardschool is sitting on the launch pad with nothing to promote.

Bands used to do this back in the day sometimes but in today's world, your releases normally are nothing more than a promotional tool for your tour.

IF it's an album and we're on single number two, logic and common sense would tell us that single number three will coincide with the albums release....

So let's say November.

What's happening in November/December?

A residency in NY, Vegas, or London isn't a bad idea.

Yeah, like what is this song for? They're all putting their feet up in 9 days time as things stand.

Tonight will be interesting. What does he say and what if anything gets said or announced when this releases?

The timing is bizarre. There are five dates left on the US tour and whilst they've now been postponed again, the Australia and Mexico gigs never needed a new single to promote those dates - it's not like the US where GN'R come through on +20 date tours every year, it's a once every few years novelty when they hit other countries.,

This single is apparently going to get radio play starting tomorrow... what on earth is it promoting? The European leg isn't until June, and it doesn't need promo either, it happening is a novelty because it's not so frequent. If this single is just to promote tour dates it should have been out 1) before Absurd and 2) before the tour even began.

Really really odd. We'll see what happens tonight.

They play a gig tonight in the US. Expect it played and a midnight release. The mix is not good at all, there are parts of the Eye on You vocals spliced in at points. Hopefully it grows on me.

The arrangement of the song is better but it's let down by the reusing of old parts that were meant for a differently arranged song. That and the mix just confuse the whole thing.

It's possible it's an algorithmic thing based on news stories but that doesn't wash for me for a couple reasons.

Firstly, it would be more or less an instant response. We've had minor rumblings of "Hard Skool" before but it wasn't until this week that bigger sites like Bl***ermouth and Loudw**e picked it up. So that'd be instantaneous turn around for search results being collated.

Second, while it's to a much less degree than "Hard Skool", we've not seen "Atlas Shrugged" generate anything on Spotify, despite being mentioned here and there in the press and among the more mainstream fanbase. I've seen it suggested that it's because GNR fans are naming playlists "Hard Skool". Again this doesn't wash. Are there GNR related playlists with the title "Atlas Shrugged" or just "Hard Skool"? If so, okay, I'll concede but also, why would Spotify weight user playlists so heavily and surely there can't be THAT MANY playlists with "Hard Skool" as the title. It seems to strain credulity...

A couple of final comments then we'll see what happens tomorrow...

As you add or subtract letters, different things will come up, i.e.: "Hard Sko" generates "Shadow Of Your Love" but not the GNR Artist page. I've seen people speculate this is due to the proximal but scrambled letter ordering of "Shadow" but that doesn't particularly wash with me because there are other, already released songs with "Shadow" in it that have more plays than "Shadow of Your Love" on Spotify, i.e. The Killers' "Shadowplay" and Audioslave's "Shadow of the Sun". Why wouldn't their page be associated instead?

And finally, which may or may not undercut my whole theory, the results will appear only if you're based in the US.

I'm inn the US at the moment but my Spotify is UK. I don't get everything you mentioned but "hard sc" shows GNR in the search results for me.

Unless they do Hardskool soon or announce generally what their long term plans are then interest will continue to decline.

The lack of communication really hurts the band these days. There is less chatter and rumour about what's going on than back in the CD dark days.

Notice how only one side of them is painted as anti-science. I also get a chuckle out of how the side that believes women have penises calls the other side anti-science.

There's a lot of research on gender identity and trasgenderism. It's backed up. Here's a post from Harvard detailing multiple peer reviewed studies on the topic.

Just because you refuse to acknowledge/decide to hate on people over doesn't mean you can label it anti-science, you're wrong, the hard science about it exists - you choose not to listen.

The antivax stuff exists because there are sadly a lot stupid people who also have a very understandable mistrust of government institutions. For decades now politicians from both sides have eroded public trust. The internet then allows this shit to spread at lightspeed.

If/when an album is announced as on the way then I’m sure interest in more tour threads will pick up.

We’re officially a month after the release of Absurd. If this is operating like any other rollout for an album these days then we should see another single soon.

If we get two weeks from now with nothing I’m just going to assume it’s only Absurd for now and maybe we get more in 2022.

I’ve said it other places but what gives me most worry is they’ve announced nothing so far - normally when an artist starts dropping singles for an album they say a few words about their plans.

Ain't Going Down was on the AFD boxset as an instrumental.

For a country that pretends to care about the separation of church and state + also pretends to care about personal freedoms, a lot of you seem to want to control a person's right to do what they wants with their body and enforce a religious doctrine on your own people.

Fucking clown show.

Wow....the world really is wrapping up.

The last big reunion never to happen is actually upon us.

I was never a huge fan although I love Waterloo. I'm interested though just to see how it plays out.

I need to listen to their hits before checking out the new stuff.

I had to listen to a lot on car rides as a kid as my folks liked them. The hits are good for what they are. Benny and Bjorn are very accomplished and capable song writers for that 70s disco influenced style pop that they made.

My favourite album of theres, one that I actually like properly is their last one The Visitors. Good songs, more serious tone by ABBA standards.

In fact the later the songs the better they get IMO. Writing divorce songs for your ex wives to sing seems to get the best out of them.
