#2572 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » SLASH: 'MODERN ROCKERS ARE SELL-OUTS' » 877 weeks ago

I agree with every word he said. It's mostly the media's and the record company's fault: they made the word 'rebel' a sticker to sell more. You cannot really find anything new out there. The bands have nothing to say, nothing to sing about, they're only interested in making money. Making money is a good thing, don't get me wrong, but if it is in your focus, then you are nothing as an artist. Do what you wanna do and maybe then think about how to sell it.

The girl is a huge Stones fan, so that was the first song on my list wink  Thanks for the help, I'll check the songs you all mentioned. The wedding is still like 7 weeks from now, so I have some time left. I'll have some 60s and 70s songs, too, and some not real rock songs and not guitar driven. Only some playing here and there with good lyrics. I'll post my list when it's ready, but till then every idea is appreciated  5

BTW I still don't understand why they didn't choose Welcome to the Jungle for the ceremony... 22

Hi Guys,

Could you help me out a little bit? A friend of mine will marry, after long long years and he asked me to search for like 3 hours of acoustic guitar music for the special occasion. I know that it'll be hard to resist not to add You're Crazy or You ain't the first to the list... smile But... when I tried to collect the songs I thought of, some turned out to be very electric guitar driven. I didn't remember that Skid Row's I Remember You rocks this hard big_smile  So if you know great acoustic songs, for a wedding, you're welcome 5

About the 'rushed' OMG case... Except a few, but huge problems with the song (out-of-tone guitar playing etc.) it's the best rocker of all the Nu-GN'R songs. Period. But it wasn't rushed... Axl released original material last in 1991, so in 1999 nobody thought he didn't have a song ready for release, moreso that in 1996 he promised an album for 1997. People changed, but they were working on new material since early 1998, and for other people of the Universe almost two years in studio, with a lot of pre-Huge work seemed to be enough. The truth is that Axl was scared, he's still scared, cause it 'can't be Shaq at the free-throw line'. But since there is no guarantee for the ultimate success, he's still testing the waters and turns out fake explanations for the non-delivery. Anyway, after hearing like a dozen of leaks, nobody should expect anything earth-shattering. The best option is a good enough record if the final mixes are right.

Dizzy wasn't around in the beginning, he was nowhere near from being the 6th member of the original line-up. BTW he's not that talented, not at all. Thanks God, he didn't ruin AFD with some uninspired piano playing, like he did on the UYIs. The Blues is the highlight of the guy's career so far, and this tells it all.

I've never heard 12 bar blues...is it like STP, VR or different again. I've been warery since cornell's solo stuff was so different from Audioslave/Soundgarden!

12BB is WAY different than STP, and doesn't even come close to the same style as VR.

I think his solo record is quite good 9

Sounds good to me. If that's true, we're closer than we've ever been before.

The only problem for me is the closest Best Buy is two hours away from me.

After 10+ years of waiting, I wouldn't mind about 2 hours tongue

I don't understand this street cred debate. GN'R lost it a long time ago, in the UYI era with videos that cost 5 million bucks and having backup singers, horns, limos etc. Since I Don't Have you and the tired millionaires versions of punk songs were the last nails. It's hard to get street cred, when you spent more than 14 millions to your album, live in Malibu, drive Lamborghinis and tour the world with an AFD tribute show in every 4 years. The crazy genius would be a better fit for Axl, as an image, but after the leaks, nobody expects the second coming, just wanna get through it.
