#251 Re: Guns N' Roses » Questions for Axl if he visits GN'R Evolution » 862 weeks ago
Why did you choose Azoff as manager?
His reputation as a reuniter of fragile band relationships is legendary, so you must have foreseen the message, intended or unintended it sent?
Do you ever talk to the other L.A. bands that came out at the same time as guns, like Bang Tango, Faster Pussycat, etc?

Quick, someone ask him who he is going to blame next.
We have a pool going you know.

Who is Eric Romano?

Agreed, D-machine.
It appears, that the general public, as well as the "fan-base" are speaking with our wallets with this.
Also, the schism in the fan base, doesn't really exist outside the fan base.
Everyone HATES Axl...
He was hated by the public by the time the Illusions tour ended for his petulent behavior, and he's hated even more now for his abuse of the name, and his $14 Million dollar experiment in a failing economy.
The "nutswingers" aren't just the hard-core Axl supporters, it's any of us who even care anymore.

I'm disappointed in the music, the production of the CD, the lack of any sort of real rawness.
I'm also disappointed that Axl lacked the foresight to keep anything close to a functioning band at the time of the release, and that the "band" turned out to be anything but. Are any of these guys on retainer anymore?
All in all, I'm happy this came out, just so this chapter can be over. It takes alot of soul searching to realize you went down the wrong path, and I think the response to the CD has shown that the wrong path was taken.

Smile was good, CD, not so much.

And not to turn this into a mutual circular suck-off session, but it's nice to have a myriad of differing opinions without questioning person's fandom, motive, sexual orientation, hearing, etc.
I certainly can see the value and "both sides" of where people are trying to come to terms with this release.
As far the guitar riffs...for example on Prostitute, the little riff that starts at 4 seconds in could have been explored more in my opinion, rather than going into a series of string bends. Sometimes it feels like the strings and other instruments get the part that would sound more "alive" if it were to be given to the guitar.

I think the majority of the public has been under a rock regarding what was going on with this band.
Having heard the leaks, I think they did a better job of capturing the vibe of song more than the finished product did, along with putting the guitar more at the forefront. I think I.R.S. is a perfect example of this.
Amazing guitar work at times, but lacking a hook or the want to get up and do some air guitar. {Not that that's the coolest thing either}
Anyway, thanks for listening, answering, and contributing.
It's getting harder and harder to find people who don't immediately laugh when you bring GnR up.
