Watching the Who at Kilburn 1977 and it makes me think just how kick ass it would be to see a two hour, high-def, pro-shot new GNR show. Some of the footage, that leaked from the "Axl" project was incredible--if only they could get this ready for public consumption. This Who show was a pro-shot, invite only, intimate show. Happy Saturday Night (special)! Amazing (think of seeing HBO trailers for a new GNR show):

Incredible version of "Won't Get Fooled Again"--if you are a rock fan, a must see (the scream prior to the outro is out of this world):

I'm half conviced Doug Miller is an alias.
Only you know who is up that late.
Please explain?

Probably by tomorrow night (I would assume), so it hits everyone on their Monday a.m. commute into work. I would think whatever they state next, whenever they do it, will cover more than shackler's. Right with you James!

If my antennae are correctly wired, it seems an official statement of significance is brewing. The press have been tipped, and are holding stories in lieu of some sort of press release. Just a hunch.

Building this up, would also ensure better ticket sales once they did announce a tour. The Beatles, after Revolver, quit touring, but did many high profile live performances for TV, etc. They were able to control and promote their image as serious studio musicians and showcase the songwriting quite effectively this way.

But what if I ever want to see them
Well of course after the release--I should have clarified, I am only speaking about the time frame right around the release, or shortly thereafter. They would definitely tour as that is where they make big money.

What are your thoughts?
Mine:
--GNR could do two nights at an intimate theater (Warfield, Hammerstein, etc.), with a high tech stage show (a la NIN), film it, and sell it to HBO, Showtime, or Cinemax as an exclusive 2 hour Hi-def show (using best of both nights) .
--They could also make the whole show or parts available online.
--Hopefully this would be a way to also showcase the full new band, Chinese Democracy, and all of the artists who worked on the album--like Bucket, Brain, maybe a cameo or two.
--If the recording was good, this would make a huge splash, with little overhead beyond production costs ($500K-$1 million, and could sell rights for $2 to $5 million, and then release a DVD).

This is significant and legit news. Paul Cashmere is a reputable journalist, and is in contact with management, and was the sole mouthpiece of the story attacking Lefsetz a few weeks ago. In other words, Frontline gave him an exclusive story, and quote, which was virtually a counterpunch against Lefsetz's comments.
Again, this reads almost like a press release:

--Listening to my original issue vinyl, which has the warning sticker, the cross insert sticker, the golden-rod emboss indicating it's and in-store promo advance release, and the rape scene cover. It's from the first printing of the album.
--There is no better way to listen to this album!
--The organic recording reminds one just how talented musically the original members were, in addition, to how well written the songs were.
--Axl's voice in this format (organic) has so much more depth than any digital format. It's funny, I notice live when I hear him, I hear the full texture of his voice better (the deeper tones, instead of just the higher tones). On digital recordings (including mp3 boots of concerts), it's as if the range of the recording does not fully capture his voice.
--Is the vinyl reissue of AFD out yet? I have not seen it at Best Buy or my local record store? Is it an Amazon only release?
--I sure hope they recorded Chinese Democracy on organic tape, and not digital formats only.
