I bet that 99% of the people who downloaded these songs will (would...) buy the record, so there was no financial loss. They lost their last pieces of credibility and now it's impossible to believe they don't threat fans like enemies.

They didn't lose any credibility with me because I didn't jump to any conclusions and blame the band for something the FBI and RIAA did.

We all know what happened between MSL and the Axl camp. It's hard to believe they don't have a hand in this theatrical arrest. They wanna frighten the fans, that's it. Last time I checked people uploaded tons of material using their own IP, yet the US prisons aren't full of them. It was a direct action. Anyway, I can be wrong, but their reaction on the official site tells me they're happy with the arrest.

I decided not to buy this record months ago, but I feel backed after reading this. How lame. I think when you have much more lawsuits in a decade than relased songs(!), then it's time to give up your career as a musician, enjoy your money and watch Court TV all day long.

Having seen the backlash Tommy experienced for being open with the fans, and generally just seeing the GNR fanbase in general, I'm not surprised he didn't wanna speak to us.

As I remember the fanbase had a very good response to the 2004 Tommy interviews, even after such a long wait and the 2001-2002 tour clusterfuck. When his words turned out to be untrue, then he got some shit, but what else would you expect? Nothing materialized that he had said. On the other hand I understand them not wanting to be bashed when it's all Axl's band and his decisions.

Rotation is the word ;-)  BTW I can live without hearing Out Ta Get Me on the 'next' tour.

When you keep saying that you're working on something magnificent and how this is a new era, then you'd better don't live off your old and hated buddies' material. Move on. You have valid points and most fans had bad experiences with bands who played mostly their last (often mediocre) album with some old hits added, but hell, Axl plays/played more AFD than the UYI line-up. I can tell you that casual fans aren't interested in hearing My Michelle, Think About You, Out Ta Get Me etc. They don't even care about It's So Easy or Mr. Brownstone. Give them some November Rain, SCOM, PC, Jungle etc. and they'll be happy. But Out Ta Get Me every night? Please.

Somehow I'm sure this is Axl's fault. Or at least Scott's.

Not really. It's the only song the wrote together with the Buckcherry guys tongue

I still think that the Closing In On You clip was legit. Even more after hearing Shackler. Maybe he could try to find that song.

He couldn't, since the guys who wrote that blues-based hard rock, aren't in the band anymore, and his new players don't even like the classic Guns N' Roses. One of the reasons for the Slash/Duff vs. Axl break-up was Axl wanting to go industrial. Axl loves this type of music, yet he's still in love with Elton John-type of ballads (sometimes with even more cheese). Strange pairing, but it's Axl.

the lyrics changed because the circumstances changed. the afd period lyrics are written by a band that lived on the streets and they wrote together about nightrain or paradise city where the girls are pretty.

now there's one man doing the writing and he's living in his masion driving his mclaren. he's focusing on other things and we won't get a "dom perignon" instead of nightrain (at least i hope so 16 ). he's trying to find something to write about that relates to people.

when afd came out everybody lived rock n' roll and they captured it all in that album. people expect him to write another afd, he won't. times have changed. the guy has other topics/issues to write about.
