I own thousands of movies on disk and tape that I collected over the years...but it's obvious the future is streaming...so i thought fighting it is pointless..it gets hard to even get a quality cd player now.....so i swapped to streaming...still keep a 4k player for favourite franchises...but I am resigned to streaming for day to day stuff.
I totally disagree on the movie part. There's something relaxing to me in just grabbing your favorite movie that's on a disc and just playing it instead of depending on a reliable stream. Plus I like going through my collection and just watching something that I haven't seen in a while for whatever reason. I mean sometimes it can be daunting going through tubi and finding something you may like. Also there's something in knowing that it's there and you can watch it whenever you want. There's stuff I bought like 10 years ago, that I finally rewatched and rediscovered. I just don't think it's the same if I watch it streaming. This part is difficult for me to explain, since it's feeling, and an impression and emotions.
As for SOG, I'm just going to go with there will be new music released in 2022 with the Slash comments and the admittedly sketchy Spotify search results.

The Gambler - This is like the third Mark Wahlberg movie I've watched this year. Wasn't too bad but I didn't like the angle of fixing the basketball game. The casino is where the story worked best.
Try watching the 70s original w/Caan. It's a lot more character based.

It's that popular.
After 1989-90 I never cared for it but it has to stay.
It's not even a Dylan song anymore...it's GNR.
I too don't care for it either. Only the 1989-90 versions because they rocked and had a more raw feeling to it. I'd probably add It's so Easy as another one that gets played nightly and is an essential. Probably on the list/tier w/Patience, YCBM etc. Maybe Nightrain and Brownstone too but those are more my personal opinion.

You could probably dump out the CD tracks plus most of the GNR Lies stuff except for Patience. I personally don't care for Live and Let Die but that one is popular. Don't mind if they rotate one of the epic deep cuts though (Coma, Estranged, Civil War etc).

Titans finally win vs the Raiders. I think it's funny that McDaniels already has had a closed door meeting w/Mark Davis. He's still got years to go there but Gruden did him no favors with the crappy drafting. Raiders look like that one team that will lose a shit ton of close games for whatever reason. The red zone offense for the Raiders did them in.
Shocked MIA won. Buffalo dominated them on everything but the scoreboard.
PHI has won against some bad teams. And yeah WSH will always be the Redskins to me. I always refer to them as the Redskins.
49ers look like the same club. Jimmy G is still a problem. No way they should have lost with that defensive effort. AFC west seems overrated with only the Chiefs looking good. And even they lost.

Beta takes a lot of shit that should fall straight on Axl’s shoulders.
I agree. He's been doing this stuff for a long time even without Beta managing him. The infamous not knowing a tour was booked was in the early 2000s w/ Goldstein still managing, I think. They deserve flack for the shitty merch designs. But as far as the big picture/major decisions, that's all on him and always will be. They (the Lebesis') probably don't do anything without his ok.
That being said, I listened to the live YCBM version and it was killer.

he was juggling lineups and scenarios up until taking the stage.
Mentioned it before. He should have picked ONE scenario and went forward with it. He lost a lot of money and wasted time by doing what he did.
I guess most of the negative Axl comments about Slash in 2008 and forward stem from whatever happened in 2006 that scuttled the reunion and some comments made in Slash's book.

Extreme Measures... I think this tanked because it looked like a "hospital thriller" and that audiences probably didn't like Hugh Grant straying from his rom com stuff. But he's fine here. And this is an interesting conspiracy thriller from the 90s. Hackman doesn't get as much screen time as one would think but he does provide the film with it's main dilmena.
True Believer.. another conspiracy thriller. This one has James Woods chewing up the scenery. And I love him for it. There's kind of an underlying "hippie/flower power" generation loses all their idealism and enthusiasm vibe early in the film. Woods is an acquired taste, you either like the manic energy that he brings (especially when he was the lead actor) or you don't . I agree with Lofton, Downey Jr. role was kinda wasted especially in the second half when he just kind of became a gofer. Oh, I love the late 80s unsanitized NYC setting as well.

Maybe it was played on MTV like once? It looks like something hastily put together and poorly edited, maybe by Geffen to have MTV play the song.
No, it was on a bunch. I'm watching the video on youtube right now and it's a trip down memory lane. I only remember the video now because of all those darn scenes of Days of Thunder.
What area of the country did you live in? I know MTV was national but they may have had regional programming. I don't remember.
This movie was not a huge blockbuster so maybe it was dropped fairly quickly....or maybe there were issues with Paramount.
I live on the West Coast. I don't remember how long it was in rotation. It could have been dropped quickly due to the movie tanking. But it did play in rotation. I totally forgot about it till you guys brought it up. I just remember all those racing scenes and scenes with Cruise. I don't even remember the part in the video where they spliced in SCOM video. That part is kinda new to me .

And I guess I'll also add that unless you were around during that time period it's almost impossible to describe how BIG they were and what a meteoric rise they had starting with Jungle in 88. I don't think we'll ever see anything like that again.
