#261 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR to perform at Golden Gods award show/ lifetime achievement for Axl » 583 weeks ago

Duff seems to be in a bit of limbo with his solo career at the moment.  As was pointed out before he seems to have been jumping around from band to band at the moment.

The death of VR would also have meant the death of any significant $$ paying gig for Duff IMO.  I am not entirely surprised to see him chummy with Axl and prepared to take any bones Axl might throw his way.  I also wonder if the whole VR thing and Slash pursuing his solo career perhaps left a bit of a bitter taste in Duff's mouth and strained his relationship with Slash just a little.

That said there's nothing wrong with Duff choosing to let go of past shit with Axl and do what he's doing and there is most likely nothing in it, but I just wonder whether Duff perhaps is cultivating this whole thing a little bit just to see where it goes and give himself another option.  Good luck to him if he is since he has bills to pay and a family to feed like the rest of us, but it's interesting nonetheless to watch it play it.

Shame they never did So Fine.

That Patience solo hurt my ears, watch Axl and Ron's reaction afterwards at around the 6 minute mark. Axl comes back on and just stares at DJ like WTF? Axl and Ron then look like they are laughing and then Axl takes the piss by doing a little dance.

I think anything but a full blown reunion would be a step backwards for Slash.  Playing a few gigs like Duff is would be a step down and a poor idea IMO.

For me Slash has firmly established himself and his reputation post Guns now and to be associated with the current clown show in any way (short of an equal terms full on reunion) would reduce his cred and be a step backwards as far as I'm concerned.  Even a full reunion as Tejastech pointed out, the time has long past. Circa 2006 seems to have been the time performance wise, now Axl just seems to have lost his mojo, his fitness, his voice and his direction.  The only thing he has retained is his bitterness.

For a long time Axl was the ace in the deck that all the other guys were waiting on, these days at least for Slash that ain't the case.  Axl is more likely to need Slash at some point to keep his flagging career going rather than the other way around.

Sadly I've never seen Aerosmith, they've never come over here, so would definitely make an effort for this if the opportunity arose.

Would love it if this come down under, I would definitely catch that double bill.

Sadly what you describe misterID I think is a very distinct possibility.

I would also add the hashtag #ashbaswag to it though.

Cheers for the updates, was wondering when these gigs were kicking off.

As for the content, lol - hmm well.

Curious to hear some vids to see what he sounds like tho.

The whole thing is so petty and a waste of energy. But if Axl stuffed Slash's releases around (from memory he couldn't release the Stoke DVD in the US?), it's no surprise if Slash gave it back to them when he has the whip hand.

It sounds like a lame TB thing tho, I can just imagine them behind the scenes scheming thinking they are really clever "if Slash doesn't agree to our terms we will just tell the fans and the world that he is blocking the release, then the world will finally see him for the wanker he really is".

I think they forget that you reap what you sow.

However this and all the past shit happened the fact remains that once again the fans are the ones that get bent over. Two grown men in their 50's carrying on like spoiled children, they sure need to get some fucken perspective on life. While Slash appears to be largely willing to leave the past in the past and move on (although I'm sure he's not faultless in all this shit) Axl sure doesn't want, so shit like this will continue.
