Prostitute Myself like a banshee on crack! I always miss these new leaks? Where could one hear this?
#262 Re: Guns N' Roses » Shackler's Revenge Footage » 904 weeks ago
Not necessarily. They could make an announcement sometime in between now and the end of October for a late Nov. release.

Guns N' Roses
Axl Rose is the Ralph Ellison, the J.D. Salinger, the Harper Lee of hard rock. GNR once defined metal-edged swagger, but it's been a decade and a half since the band'”with Slash and Izzy Stradlin long gone'”has released an album. Several songs from 'Chinese Democracy' were leaked this summer, and one, 'Shackler's Revenge,' is on the video game Rock Band 2, raising hopes that this is the year 'Democracy' (due by Christmas, maybe) spreads across the globe. And the key words being due by Christmas MAYBE. They fucked up big time now. This Rock Band thing was free and easy promo. So long 2008. So who has 2009 for the year it is released?
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions--I would expect any news or single to hit us between the eyes--in other words, a huge surprise we don't see coming, if in fact the album is coming this fall. I believe Shackler's is a great song for a game like this, and is good publicity--single or not. In fact, if they do not release this as an official single, I think it benefits the band, as it is still a leak (a little danger); but will get free distribution without cost, thus publicity. Once the game is out (14th), they will not try to pursue torrent sharing of this song.
Right now, I expect one of two scenarios to happen in the not so distant future:
--CD comes out in November, and there is a GNR reunion in early 2010, with massive summer tour.
--There is a GNR reunion early next year, with a massive summer tour following. Chinese Democracy comes out next fall, and an album with the original members follows closely in 2010.

Wow, when did this happen? Can anyone get me up to speed?
#265 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash talks about Chinese Democracy and Axl ! » 905 weeks ago
Its funny how Slash has this opinion of this guy giving out unreleased music, yet he`s been handed a cd full of unreleased songs, and listened to them, and yet fails to report the guy who gave him it.... his guy is the same as our guy as far as wrong doings go....
Guy's, keep in mind, him and Axl run in the same circle of friends. Marc Canter, Reckless Road, is great friends with him and Axl. Izzy is a liazon between the two, along with multiple studio hands, techs, road crew folks, etc. Moreover, also keep in mind, due to the business aspect of the past bands catalog, etc., they have to stay in touch, and most likely have a monthly dialog, albeit between middle-men, to check the state of the busines.
Remember, Jagger and Richard, and Perry and Tyler all talk about how when they were broken up, and not supposed to be talking, they would have late night conversations, and keep it to themselves--so when they did reunite, they could act like it just came about, with some compelling story. I am sure they have corresponded quite a bit, and far more than anyone would imagine--they aren't going to tell anyone about it, but I would bet my life they are in contact. They will reunite, it's just a matter of when. I would be it's 2009!
#266 Guns N' Roses » Death Magnetic inspiring & bringing out competitive edge in GN'R » 905 weeks ago

The old band always had a competitive edge, and I would imagine Metallica getting ready to kick ass; and even seeing, to a lesser extent, Motley Crue have a small resurgence, is getting the blood boiling of the original band. They still have a certain amount of pride (as evidenced by Slash interview below) and competitive edge going back to the early days--Slash, Duff, Axl, and Izzy must be listening to Death Magnetic thinking "they made an album that kicks ass, but we can do this better". I really think, while admiring Metallica's work, they get pissed off at the same time. Anger, if properly channeled, can turn into a positive.
I also think, it's time for Slash to get a Dr. Pepper if CD comes out. He came to Axl's defense last month--he "got" Axl's proverbial back, publicly, in the face of backlash. That has not happened since 1993. Bold move!
#267 Re: Guns N' Roses » Will you still buy CD? » 905 weeks ago
Tommie wrote:Not only will I buy it, I'll be buying the super exclusive collectors edition (if available).
Absolutely, I hope they follow the route Metallica has gone, or something like it. I'd be all over that. I'll settle for just the CD in Metallica's case though.
Speaking of Metallica, Death Magnetic surprisingly rocks! The album version of Cyanide is amazing--the best stuff they've done since the Black Album! The bar has been raised for Chinese Democracy, as Metallica's new one is damn good, solid! I will be getting it on CD and vinyl, as well as Chinese Democracy!
#268 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bob Lefsetz: Best Buy Deal confirmed/Azoff response to leaks » 905 weeks ago
Here's the article from the link above. Did I miss something or is this in no way a "response from Guns N' Roses"?
EXCLUSIVE: Lefsetz Jumps The Shark With Axl Rose
by Paul Cashmere - September 3 2008The music industry has been asking itself when Bob Lefsetz would `jump the shark`. Well, it has finally happened.
`Jump The Shark` is a term used in the US television industry for when a show has past its use-by-date by veering off into ridiculous story lines.
In his latest bizarre rantings, Lefsetz has encouraged Axl Rose to kill himself.
In what can only be described as a remarkable example of insensitivity, Lefsetz wrote 'Of all the marketing/distribution ideas I received in response to my missive, I'll only reveal one, that upon the album's release, Axl Rose should commit suicide'.
Axl Rose should be furious that any human being could sink to such a low level. "It appears unethical, irresponsible, reprehensible, misguided and just the sort of thing a douchebag like Leftshitz would say," Guns N' Roses said in a statement to Undercover.
The Lefsetz column didn't stop with Axl. He also had the audacity to say 'At least John Lennon was smart enough to get shot just when his new album was released. Elvis croaked between album cycles '¦ Hell, what would happen if AC/DC died in a plane crash' Everybody would be wanting to click and buy at iTunes'.
Lefsetz has made a name for himself by criticising the problems of the industry but never offering solutions. He is widely read, I will grant him that, but people take note of loud noises.
His `Axl to suicide` rant would have to go down in the music industry as one of the lowest deeds of all time.
[b]BRILLIANT PIVOT BY FRONTLINE AND AZOFF!! PUBLICITY GALORE!!
#269 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bob Lefsetz: Best Buy Deal confirmed/Azoff response to leaks » 905 weeks ago
For this record to succeed, it is important for Axl to shake the "rich, pampered, excess" ficade. Again, Axl is inherently anti-establishment, but the public needs to be reintroduced to that side of him. I was just suggesting a few ways, or channels he can circumnavigate which would help! Ranting against Clear Channel and the loss of everyday freedoms in America seems right up his alley--just read the lyrics to Garden of Eden and Out to Get Me a few times.

The problem with trying to get street cred back is that it often means that you need to do things that are non commercial.
For example lets say he did free concerts, let this skewerl guy off, leaked the whole album, said its only gonna be released thru Indy record companies and fuck the majors etc etc. He would no doubt get a heap of street cred back but nobody would make a cracker.
Unfortunatly I believe the drive for a dollar (whether that be Axls or the record company's) will overide any burning deisre to get street cred back.
I think street cred, as this point in the game, is exclusive of record sales, etc. Look, with the well documented horrid state of the music industry, many people who previously were afforded the luxury of acting anti-success, pro-Indie, do not find that line of thinking attractive anymore. Moreover, GN'R is a well known, one of the most well known, monster hard rock machines/programs. The idea of them as big, has always been with them. In 1992, they were well known as the largest commercial entities in music, and even with Nirvana posing as the anti-of the anti they still were massively anti-establishment. Axl, really has not lost that. He just needs to shake the "rich, pampered" thing, which he can do quickly. Dress a little rougher, rant against the cops and any authority figures, rage against Clear Channel (no-brainer), 3rd World debt not forgiven by the U.S., the treatment of Iraqi war veterans by the Bush Admin, and somehow stand their ground with Skwerl but make it clear they are not in support of him going to jail, etc. They can distribute product however they want. With GN'R, it is a given their record distribution is big-time, it's the attitude now.
I also think Axl should organize a massive one-day rock fest somewhere (with very reasonable ticket prices)--make it the show of the year, which is wicked hip, featuring the best upcoming bands, the best current bands, and make sure it is risky--not a family event, yet not overtly playing to the mullet/tits and ass crowd that is red neck, and not "Tool" hip. Axl needs the Tool , Rage, Sevendust, NIN, Muse & Primus type crowd, and organizing a killer music festival would be big-time, esp. if it was a big success--which Irving Azoff could help pull off, while keeping tickets reasonable.
