Has anyone thought of Lenny Kravitz as a possibility for the new frontman job?

Someone mentioned that before.

I did big_smile I still think that Lenny Kravitz or Linda Perry would be the best well-known singer for this band. But I can see Slash trying out some of his candidates on his solo album, and then decide. 21

Then again, their line is that a reality TV programme (which, signed or not, is basically good publicity) is more worthy of comment than the Robin situation (which is getting out of hand on the boards, if not elsewhere). I wouldn't expect them to put anything on the NIN tour to the official website, but they could at least comment through Jarmo/Beta/whomever.

I agree that it could be their line of thinking, but... well, the reality show got a big media attention, here in Hungary even some national and local(!) newspapers had the story, not to mention the tabloids and music sites. So the 'general public' may needed a press release if it wasn't true. On the other hand, only the hardcores know who is in GN'R right now. Outside of the internet world of like 20,000 fans nobody's really interested. So why should you update the 'world' that you don't know if a guitar player whom nobody knows is still in your band?
BUT... for the hardcore fans, who 'stuck with Axl through all the fucking shit', Axl really should give an update about the guitarist situation. And I will use the forbidden word: he OWES an update about Robin. Not to mention that the official site still hasn't reported the 'fact that everybody knows' that the album is done. Before it turns out that Beta was 'misquoted' by the media. So use your website 20

I remember you saying that and me scoffing at you...I still don't think it will happen but you are getting closer by the day! 18

Here is Mysteron's latest on the Robin situation:
"All of the band members (GN'R) are currently doing their own random projects, but because this is Robin and NIN everything changes because of their history

Let us be clear though. Robin has not intimated at any point that he has left GN'R, so there should be no reason to worry. Because Robin has 'rejoined' NIN for the moment, the press coverage of this will obviously promote NIN and their future endeavours, so Robin, NIN and whoever else will not act in any manner to stop this happening because, of course,  it benefits them, and as we all know, any promo is normally good promo.

Obviously if Guns were to become active then that would leave Robin with decisions to make, but I personally think would he would choose GN'R given the time and effort he has put into it them. I think, given the fact that NIN world tours tend to be short affairs anyway, Robin sees this whole thing as an educated gamble." 17:headbang:

translation- Gnr ain't doing shit for awhile.....

One thing is clear: Robin DOES NOT have a contract with GN'R anymore. The rest of Mysteron's post (except the freudian IF GN'R were to become active comment) doesn't mean more than any fan guess. It's a joke that they can't even reach their 'lead guitarist' or can't force out an answer what his priority is. However I really doubt that Finck would leave NIN in the middle of a tour, so either it's a very short NIN tour, or he doesn't want to waste his time on Axl anymore, or CD is nowhere in sight and Robin didn't risk too much when he was 'gambling'.

Anyway, Axl was really pissed off whn Slash was touring with Snakepit and in the past dcades every player had Axl's blessing on their solo projects (or that could have been easily scrapped like a HNB pub tour). It's clear that Finck didn't tell Axl about the NIN thing. I don't know if he had to, cause like I mentioned I'm sure he doesn't have a contract with GN'R anymore. So why inform your previous boss?

I agree. He is doing something that is incompatiable with an active GNR. So he is either out of the band. Or GNR is planning on entering a dead period for 12-18 months. Either way is bad news for fans.

If anything I find the silence more likely to suggest there is some problem, as the band is more likey to denounce things as fake when they are.

Not to mention that official unofficial fansite still doesn't mention Robin's tour neither on the first page/Headlines, nor in the 'next events'.

I follow Axl's career. I don't really care about the other guys in the band. tongue

That's what Jarmo said:

An understanding for a possible explanation on why there's no update might make you less frustrated. That's the point I made.

If you need an example, look at the Buckethead situation in 2004.

Until there's something to announce and they're sure of it, GN'R won't announce anything.

All I know is that according to NIN.com, Robin is welcomed back. I don't know what exactly it means, but from past experiences, I'm sure there'll be some kind of announcement as soon as possible.

Maybe you can't give updates on the current status of the band if you're not 100% sure?

Remember how much crap the band and management got when they said Buckethead was in the band and then he left?

#2707 Re: Guns N' Roses » Robin back in NIN. Temp or not is the question? » 898 weeks ago

Back to the topic: it's very strange that the official unofficial fan site still doesn't have this news on the main page. I guess the GN'R camp is trying to find out what's up with Robin... Strange... They reacted for the Dr. Pepper challange in 24 hours, yet they have nothing to say about the internet rumours and fan concerns that their lead guitarist might have left the band.

GNR just seemed to loose their #1 guitar player, song writer and lead guitarist and people think it's not a big deal. Would even Axl think about touring an album that doesnt even contain the people who wrote it?

He did in 2002, 2006 and 2007. tongue

Robin WAS a member? roll Well, I don't really care if he's in or out since I'm not a fan of his playing, but anyway, it's interesting.

Don't you think it's about time to create a Slash skin - or at least one that has him on it somewhere other than the AFD cross?  If nobody has one or has the time to make one, let me know how and I'll make on (even though it will suck).  It seems like the skins we have all tend to favor who the admins like (whether that's why it's that way or not).  BH, Ron, Izzy, etc.  It's criminal not to have Slash appear somewhere on at least one of the skins.  [/rant]

Agreed, lol 21  I offer a dozen karma for the hero who makes a decent Slash skin 5
