Imagine if he took a break from Guns to tour AXL solo with a Chi Dem lineup
Isn’t the problem that the rec comp own the CD era material? Maybe that’s not how it works. Does Axl own the music but he owed the rec comp a record. Could he have put out CD songs as Axl’s Boyz or whatever?

We need to resurrect that comment at least once a week.
The instrumental is like a jack-in-the-box that explodes in your face. The album version is a like jack-in-the-box that never pops open at all.
I think that’s all about producing viable timeless songs, I hesitate to say hits but something like that. To go from AFD to UYI to then just experimental poppin’ Would been too much. CD coulda been a shoulda been woulda been wild ride but it was harnessed back into the Pink KISS lines.

Opening of Circus reminds of XIX by Slipknot.

Circus is much less realized than Elvis at this point. Circus is interesting though, would be very cool live. If had lyrics, vocals and ever becomes a song.

Axl was saying just prior to the reunion that Slash, Duff, Seymour didn’t like his material (possibly TIL). That affected his confidence he said and slowed his roll. TIL was t even considered for CD until much later. I think Catcher was the next real Axl song to get worked on. I imagine Axl has stuff like As it Began there and Slash might not’ve felt the urge to work on them. This is why having worked up finished versions of Elvis that all the leg work is done, Slash can either re-record or add solos and parts. He doesn’t have to wait for vocals or the whole shape to emerge. Kind of wild speculation there but that’s a positive take.

Anyone still think it's sureal, we finally got here these tracks... even if they're just instrumentals after all these years? We litterally spent a decade and half talking about some of these tracks.
I can't get over how once we did, we got more people asking for PMs of Elvis, than talk of it.

from Soul Monster is verging on sacrilege.
It's litterally the 10th mix of the track and just a few months after he met Axl. I really think the timeline's too close. Especially with Finck being mia since August 99.
It is unrealistic to think we have this stuff but also that they are pretty much like what we thought. Axl epics, rockers and Bucket jams. Even soundtracky tracks. The balance is all there. Even through in going down for the Connection Izzy track. All the scope is there you would expect. With SlashandDuff adding more to it and maybe putting down definitive tracks seems like there’s an album.

If D tune stayed in it might have been more difficult, so Circus loses out to Soul Monster.

If the new line up add to or re-record Atlas it could be the first time I care. But with IRS, SOD, Catcher I think the album versions have strengths too, and in context of the album they fit in better.
Another thing is if you take all the “best” versions of the songs and put them on one cd, it’s a wild/patchy ride. A lot more like Physical Graffiti meets Trent Reznor than a viable UYI III GNR album. That does bode well for the variety of material flying around. Slash seems like the man to draw it all together.

The Blues is probably the most GNR song on that disc. This version is pretty comfortable and assured. Only downside is that it is a little expected and seems like an Elton Rose Song. Whereas Atlas Shrugged doesn’t have that dejavu thing. Atlas lyrics and vocals are sublime. Solo is pretty cool too. I hope Atlas gets heard by the mainstream.
Perhaps is a fun GNR track with Axl really unloading vocally. Any band with these two tracks would be green lit for a album. But they seem to have 10-14.

Without vocals I find it hard to remember the tracks. Circus has a brooding menace. Little bits coming in, then that piano and guitar come in. Digital noises blending in. Reminds me of No Quarter somehow. Very distorted fuzzy solo. It just has cool piano and guitar part, doesn’t really shift through the parts like Elvis does.
With D tune I can almost hear where Axl could sing. That’s bagpipes? There’s more development on D than Circus. A big solo. Piano outro. I would say it’s between Elvis and D.
From what Axl said at CE I think Slash will be working off the vocal tracks. Luckily there are vocals for Berlin and Soul. Maybe.
