Was Slash on dope? Of course it was going to sound like Skid Row with Baz as the singer. Why even consider him if that was the reason? Was the music they were doing sounding like Skid Row?

I think a CB type of album can sound very much Skid Row with Baz, although the music is only heavier rock, and not Slave to The Grind heavy metal.

The only part about this I don't believe is that its being released. With this article, the band now has a free pass on 08. The summer mention gives them a free pass for the first half of the year, and the Christmas mention is their "out" of the summer mention.

Then we are in early 09.

In the first years of the saga we were always half a year from getting the album. Then in 2006-2007 it was a few months. Now it's in a 6+ months distance again. Doesn't sound promising, but who knows. They're finally finished it, so there is a chance it'll come out. Without completing the shit there wasn't any chance. I wonder if it doesn't get released this year will they start to play the blame game on the record company.

Like I said, Baz should have stayed neutral in that mess. Just because he rekindled his friendship with Axl was no reason to take swipes at VR. Now that VR may be without a singer, Baz could have been in an interesting situation. He burnt that bridge, and now if VR does go on without Weiland, Baz will not even be considered.

Everyone, take a lesson from this- If you are considering burning a bridge, make damn sure there isn't much of a chance of possibly having to cross that bridge in the future.

I would also like to hear whatever material they did. Slash said something about it being "dated", but that doesn't mean it wasn't good.

Slash said they sounded like Skid Row and he wasn't interested in doing that.

Fire the douchebag first and then decide if you wanna continue together. Then get a good singer (Eric Dover or Rod Jackson is much better than Weiland) or go solos. I'm sure that Slash is better without Weiland.

Sorry, but where did the VR section go? I don't see it today... hmm  I know it hasn't got deleted, but 1 day is enough for me to miss 21

Edit: Hell, it just came back. And I have to point out that I'm sober.

if i could interject...its been said before by both Duff and Gilby, that all the material that the orig band had written was available...so we can prolly assume that all new material is post '96 at least

Good point Neemo, I remember them saying this as well.

Just like I remember Zakk Wylde saying that Duff has the songs they wrote together with Slash. I also remember the Making of Estranged video where Slash plays an acoustic riff with Axl singin' - it later became Snakepit I's Back & Forth Again. Slash plays something during the GN'R Pinball Machine Special - that later became Be The Ball. Slash said that Fall to Pieces was originally written for GN'R, just like Snakepit II's Speed Parade. This I Love dates back to the early 90s. Believe me, they have a lot of stuff post '91, some of them may have materialized into complete songs, some reamined ideas that were later used for solo projects.

3 seems to be the magic number these days for record contracts....I wonder if they are just gonna fulfill the contract and part ways...i mean cornell couldnt get the last audoslave album finished fast enough so he could take off for a solo gig

I don't think that their contract wouldn't let them doing solo stuff. Weiland announced working on his second solo album after Contraband. I also don't think that they'd have like 6 years to complete the 3 record deal. As unbelievable as it is, they're likely having fun playing together.

Wow, then VR must be a lot of fun for him. I mean maybe Slash is the only rocker celeb on the world today. The GN'R nostalgia, his bestseller book and his appearance in the GH3 made his superstar status again. He should do a solo album for both artistic and financial reasons. I mean Slash is more popular today than his band, lol. (And IMHO he created much better music with the two Snakepit incarnations.) Every rational reason says 'do a solo album', yet he chose to work again with the VR guys, although they sweat blood to make the second album and after all the pain it wasn't successful. Very strange, I don't get his motives behind it. hmm

#2810 Re: Guns N' Roses » 2006 Tour Retrospective - Resurrected » 910 weeks ago

Good summary with very likely specultaings. My only problem is that as it seems the mixing was nowhere near to be done in 2006 despite Baz's 'Axl played us the whole album' comment. We all know that Axl played 'the whole album' in strip bars in the early 2000s. Alright, Axl had his 2 or 3 day work left, but it cannot mean more than working on 2 or 3 songs. The others should have been done with 99% completed mixing. hmm  But as is seems they weren't or Axl changed his crazy mind again and started to rework 'finished' songs (like Bumble adding sleaze guitars etc.) so they had to redo the mixing.
