Just for the record, there is not one legal document out there to the public that suggests Gnr owes Uni/Geffen three albums of original material plus a GH-PURE SPECULATION and heresay-science fiction in my opinion. All legal documents that we have seen for the GH lawsuit suggest that the album was specifically put out because Axl wouldn't turn over CD. I guarantee you that record was put out to recoup funds lost to CD. No doubt in my mind. The GH documents clearly suggest that they expect Axl to give them one album of original material. In the end, we have no idea what the actual 1998 amendment to the original contract says about what is owed and what is not owed regarding album releases. Facts speak for themselves, they put out the GH against the artists wishes and immediately cut off funds for CD. I think that was their way of saying, we'll chalk this up as a loss and recoup the loss through WORLDWIDE sales of GH. Since worldwide sales are at least 8 million, at a net profit of $2 a disc, they easily make their money back.
GH was only an (unexpected) extra income for the label. They not only want their money invested into CD back, but want it back multiplied. They've already lost a lot of money cause they could have invested in better projects or anything else. They'd have much more if the only put the money in te bank... GH's success isn't enough for Uni, cause they would have the same success with zero investement.

I think the GNR album is with the label as rumored but has been placed on hold.
Led Zep, The Police, etc have shown the record business an easy way to grab back cash they have been loosing hand over fist for half a decade in the rock music world.
I bet the suits at Interscope are frantically trying to work out how to get the old GNR back together to get on this gravy train.I think that Axl is finally ready to come out with the new music but the accountants that now run his career ain't ready to pony up for him. Hence a stale mate has developed.
It may be over with Axl blaming the record company for GNR's demise. He does have someone to blame other than himself for the mess the band are in and we have seen in the past that that is unfortunately enough for Axl to go on.
I seriously doubt that Axl's really fighting hard with the label to release the album, but IF the album is done, I can totally understand and back him not wanting a reunion, but wanting this fucker out. On the other hand I doubt IF Axl delivered the finished product, the label would jeopardize everything by forcing the reunion which won't happen if Axl doesn't want it to happen. And IF he's finished his album, he won't want to reunite with Slash & Co, cause he' trying to show the world that he was Guns N' Roses.

we are 3 days into 2008, and you are already writing it off. I dont get how your kind thrives on being so fucking negative. it must suck to be so bitter.
I'm not bitter, that'd need me expect them doing something. I don't. Maybe some SA shows for the first half of the year, that's it, then plans for a late 2008 album release. It might happen, might not. Experience makes you think it won't. Axl always wants to release it, but in fact he never wants to release it. I'm comfortable with that, there are a lot of good albums to get, this year I'll try to discover the 70s more, since I have a feeling that I don't know a lot of great music from then.

There's no doubt he's an incredible guitarist in the same league as those sorts of players.
However I don't think this list is very good for comparing, as while it calculates the speed, it does not really take too much account of the difficulty of the notes being shredded.
Like for example some of them are tapping, some are sweeps, and in different places on the neck and stuff, so looking at the raw speed is meaning less.
Word.
We could only compare these guys if they played the same stuff. Well, we can compare them based on their various works, but it'd need us to know their resume pretty good.

yea but mygnr is a shithole waste of a website and can't be taken seriously. the members are out of control and even the mods have a huge bias towards VR... you can trash GnR all you want there but dont go to the VR section and say anything slightly negative! thats why i didn't mention it.

One thing to add: why doesn't Dizzy write a solo album? I know that noone would buy it, but if he has some self-respect, he should do it. The guy's been playing for 18 years in one of the biggest rock band of all time, yet he hasn't released anything except a soundtrack song.

Since the GN'R camp leaks the tracks (don't you find it odd that the studio tracks surfaced right before the 2006 and the 2007 tour?), I don't expect a new song, maybe Riyadh plus a new version of The Blues or Madagascar. Or a 'real' CITR since the one we have was someone else's leak, not the management's.

the band is guns n roses. they are going to play guns n roses songs.. thats the way it is. no need for the name argument yet again.
Nobody argues that this band is called Guns N' Roses, but noone can question that they (except Axl) play other people's songs they don't even like.
