I'm dying to hear all of Checkmate / No Love Remains.
I am pretty sure that got proved a fake by DTJ. She found some site by some band called Nightrose or something that wrote that track.

Sorry, as this is off-topic and it's been a closed case, but I have one final point on Estranged...
Notice how those saying it's well liked and respected are the older members (no offense guys, but it's true) and the two saying it's not respected are the younger members? I think Estranged goes without respect from the younger generation of high school-college age kids these days... and that's the demographic that I think GN'R is aiming for. Maybe it is because of the video but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of kids don't like it at all.
While I don't hate Estranged, I don't really care for it. Heard the song before I saw the video too.
To machine24 - wow, man. wow.
I like it and I'm 16, it's fantastic in my opinion.
Also mahcine what "shit music"?

To be honest I don't think any. If CD cut ofF the intro for a radio edit version then yes, it might have a chance.

There you go, you just made the point. When you FIRST heard it, you were all over it. That's the idea of a hit single of the moment. Months later, you don't need to be all over it. You gotta get people on the first or second listen. Better succeeds in most instances.
I don't get the love for Slither. I just listened to it again on YouTube? What riff are we talking about? The one Slash doesn't play that is chugging along the whole song? That's called rhythm guitar. That's not exactly a riff.
The riff during the heys. It's a riff. It's a rhythm guitar based riff but it's still a riff. And it catches you. First time I heard it, I wasn't that into GN'R so I was like "Wow, GN'R without the singing guy but still cool" and the bit that stood out the most and made me like it the most was the bit with the "HEY's" and that riff. It was catchy and it was killer.

Journey has been nominated for a Grammy. Jethro Tull won a Grammy. The Grammys mean zero.
True. I never really cared much that VR won a Grammy. Just meant that they were all so famous they got recognition. There were much more worthy songs released that year than Fall to Pieces.
VR are only popular because of Slash. Fact. If you replaced all the people in that band with nobody new kids, they would not sell at all.

Better is a so-so song IMO. When I first heard it I was all over it but now it just really bores and has done for months. Chi Dem has a riff but there's nothing that memorable about it. That's the problem they need a riff driven song with as catchy a riff as Sweet Child or Slither. Not that style, but that level of catchiness. Paradise and ISO get their hooks from the lyrics. Unfortunatly for the new songs there are no super Paradise/Jungle/Latest Pop Single level hooks in the lyrics so it's got to come from the music and there isn't one.
#2869 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Unknown Title) » 888 weeks ago
Well a long time ago Zakk Wylde described CD as AFD on steroids. None of these songs really fit that description.
But wasn't that the stuff he worked on for a week. That stuff may have been scrapped totally.

This obviously isn't Prostitute if you should believe the description(s) of it:
The song is said to have sounded "Appetite For Destruction"-ish.
[It's a] mid-up, kind of biting 4 minute song with an aggressive rhythm section. The way I wrote for the string section (32-piece, consisting of ten 1st Violins, eight 2nd Violins, six violas, and eight cellos) gave the song another dimension. [The song is] powerful, like fire and ice.
Well the song is 6 minutes, it's not AFD sounding and while there are strings, loads of CD songs have strings. And I'm not hearing the other dimension that they give. Good song but apart from the final sentence that does not fit.
