There must be a reason it's not on iTunes yet.  People keep saying the album is gonna be available through iTunes, if that was the case I don't know why they wouldn't have released the single yet.  Is it possible they can sell JUST the entire album through iTunes, and not single songs?  I think I remember reading somewhere that Kid Rock didn't release any of the songs from Rock N Roll Jesus through iTunes.

I thought it wasn't going to be on iTunes since it is a BB exclusive. If that's the case that's the reason why there isn't a singele on iTunes.

Releasing singles is different business than releasing an album.  The album is a Best Buy exclusive, but getting the single out there for purchase not only benefits GNR, but also Best Buy because the song will be available to more people.

There are plenty of people out there that would be more interested in purchasing the singles over a whole album so I'm not sure how it benefits Best Buy. I could see the exclusive deal would prevent it from being released through iTunes in the US.

They need to get this on Itunes ASAP so it can get more attention. If not, they need to get another single on the launch pad.

#283 Re: The Sunset Strip » AC/DC "Black Ice" Album and Tour Discussion » 869 weeks ago

Evidently, lots of people decided to pick up AC/DC's Black Ice when they were at Wal-Mart buying their Halloween candy. The album enters The Billboard 200 at #1, with an eye-popping sales tally of 784,000. That's the second biggest debut of 2008, trailing only Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, which started in June with sales of 1,006,000. Black Ice had a bigger first week than Coldplay's Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, which started in June with sales of 721,000. AC/DC's tally represents the biggest first-week by a rock album since U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb started with sales of 840,000 in November 2004. It's the biggest debut ever by a mainstream hard rock album. (A pair of alternative-metal bands, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, got off to faster starts.)

It's also the biggest debut ever for an "exclusive"--an album sold in only one retail chain. It tops Eagles' Long Road Out Of Eden, which opened with sales of 711,000 in November. Both of these albums are Wal-Mart exclusives. I wasn't sure that AC/DC and Wal-Mart would be a good fit when I first heard about this deal. Garth Brooks and Eagles made perfect sense for the retailer, because those acts all but define the term "mass appeal." I thought AC/DC's appeal was more specific and narrow. This week's debut reminds us (as if previous achievements by Led Zeppelin and Metallica hadn't already made the point) that hard rock is virtually as mainstream as country and rock.

There's a lot of gloom and doom about album sales, but the fact that two albums have had first-week sales in excess of 750,000 in 2008 shows that the album isn't dead yet. This is the first year in which two albums started with sales north of 750,000 since 2005, when 50 Cent's The Massacre and Kanye West's Late Registration both did the trick. (The wealth, however, is concentrated at the top. Black Ice sold more copies this week than the next 13 albums on The Billboard 200 combined.)

It's hard to judge these songs because the skipping is horrendous, but so far my reaction has been favorable to the new tracks. Although I hate the first 15 seconds or so of Scraped. That's just god awful sounding.

Is it possible to 'get around' the watermarks without too much of an adverse affect on the music?

Yes. All you have to do is record it through a regular cd player with a line out to the computer. I know someone who leaked Oasis' album and that's how he got around the watermark.

#288 Re: Guns N' Roses » Radio Reacts To Guns N' Roses Single » 869 weeks ago

I don't listen to the radio so I can't tell about the reactions here in Philly. I've checked out websites and there's no lists of the top tracks. However, WMMR has a list of songs they played in the last 24 hours. CD was played 3 times. I am not sure if that is good or not but in comparison Rock N Roll Train was played twice. Though AC/DC was played pretty frequently outside of RNR Train while GNR only had 1 play (SCOM) besides the 3 times they played CD.

Agree with PAsnow. I also agree that Shackler's doesn't really fit in with the rest of the tracks.

the whole public imput to that interview was poorly executed

Thats because it was only forum peeps interacting. The station wasn't flooded with calls from thousands of GNR fans. It was forum junkies hitting redial.

The moment Trunk noticed a pattern of calls coming in including shout outs to mygnr and Bumble started his own shout outs to gnrdaily and Evo is when Trunk should have pulled the plug on the interview.

I think that's what Trunk did though. Trunk only took about 4 calls and 3 were from the forums. The other was from a guy who doesn't like the new band.

I thought it was just interesting that it seemed like no one was interested in commenting on the new song except the forum members and the one guy who was totally against this incarnation of the band.
