Is anyone else triggered by Axls flat singing in Monster chorus ? Especially “over”
Surely that gets fixed ?
Are we sure this Slash and Duff on these tracks ? I sure as hell aren’t
Just gotta roll with the vocals at this point.
Thank God Monster is killer overall or I'd probably complain more... especially about the mix of these songs.
The General is ok. MSL just hit the nail on the head...not that great but ok when listening to it. 
We won't be 100% on Slash/Duff until we hear it when it's released. While it definitely sounds like him, anything is possible. Bucket could mimick the guy.

My two cents:
1. Monsters is Leave Me Alone/Elvis and The Monster of Soul/ Soul Monster because a) the high-pitched/scream-y part fits Axl's description b) it has work from Marco Beltrami (on the other hand, there's nothing heard about Beltrami working on Monstrocity).
2. The General and Soul Monster/Monsters started out as separate tracks and were still separate by the time of Axl's chats in 2008, but were merged into one two-part song by 2010.
Yeah. I don't see how it's open to debate.
It's Prostitute/song 2 repeating itself.
The merging shines new light on that post about Seven being D Tune and Circus Maximus.

I still think this is Leave Me Alone/Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul and nothing to do with Monsters. Axl did like reusing lyrical themes.
However I'm skeptical we'll ever hear it or ever know without an interview where some one straight up asks someone from that era.
It's not just lyrical themes...it's Beltrami.
[GNR] was sort of just work for hire. [...] I met with Axl and he played me these songs, asked me my ideas about them, and I told him what I thought they needed. They gave me four songs to orchestrate. [...] A song called 'Seven,' which is the one [...] I actually wrote a guitar part [on]. There was one called 'Thyme,' one called 'The General,' one called 'Leave Me Alone.'" (Marco Beltrami, IGN, 07/20/03)
Me and My Elvis would make it 5 songs instead of 4.

Just bumping this to mourn the fact that we will almost certainly never get a finished track with Axl vocals on top of this. I guess it's technically possible this turned into another song but I'd say 99% chance this was never used, and that sucks. Axl really didn't deserve the band he had. So much squandered potential.
I agree.
This is in the bin with however many other instrumentals were never worked on again.

Vocals are center-channel on both tracks, so they can be mostly-isolated. They are very clear on Monsters. On The General, they are about 60% clear, going into effect-mode in the "My only regret" and "Of those who" sections. I think that was intentional, and clear lyrics aren't meant to be heard. Could be wrong.
I got most things wrong with the rebuild, but am pleased with what I thought I heard of the vocal melody. Playing one on top of the other, the screaming section almost kinda sorta sounds almost sorta similar. Almost.
Glad these are out. Hopefully my anxiety level will return to normal.
Now that we've heard it, you did a remarkable job with what you had to work with.
