Yes, it's interesting to note that Andy Wallace mixed CD initially

I'd love to hear a logical explanation why the album that was already mixed/mastered with all the songs done and supposedly a 2nd album, still didn't come out for another 2 years.

Merck probably didn't get why wasn't released either.

The 2 biggest issues imo (apart from it coming out years too late) with Chinese Democracy are:

- Mixing/editing

Ron's guitar is literally replacing Tommy's great bass. Imagine a version of The Wall were Roger Water's bass can't be heard and there's another guitarist playing parts instead that don't really fit in alot of places. I don't blame Ron personally, but whomever made this decision. I bet Duff never would have accepted it.

Not being able to hear Tommy really on the title track and the abomination that is Catcher in the Rye is indefensible.

Catcher is musically painful to the ears. The overdubs on the chorus on There Was A Time are weirder than on Perhaps.

Then ofc that bizzare Ryiad intro synth that they got sued over that adds nothing to the song.

- Poor track choice/flow

Sorry to those that love Shackler's, but it kills the vibe and the second verse is too long. Catcher again sounds out off place and even though I like Scrapped, it maybe should have been a b-side instead. It doesn't feel like an album, it's just a collection of songs that had previously been leaked with a few others that had been thrown in to pad it's length.

Anyone know where this could be found? It used to be on YouTube and is no longer on the BBC website.

I remember posting a youtube link in the critic review threads of the album. That thread though either has a different thread name than I remember or it was lost during the dark years a decade ago when loads of threads vanished.

It was intrquing seeing Kirsty Wark ect reviewing it, back when Newsnight did culture reviews.

Hardskool/Absurd are radically different songs in their released state to the versions from yesteryear.

I'd be willing to bet the concensus (if we ever heard a 2002-2006 version) would be that it would be superior.

The modern Perhaps is growing on me, but I'm still not keen on that solo tbh.

Absurd I think is bad and HardSkool doesn't do it for me either.

R.I.P. Terry Funk

Mostly before the time I started watching, but they did randomly bring him back for appearances now and again (when I was a kid).

Random note -

I posted this thread, because of the hasitleaked post.

Not, because of some 4chan post - album track listing ect.

Do we have official writing credits for Perhaps?

No writing credits yet, but there are credits as to who is on it.

Brain, but no Frank is interesting. Some hear a little bit of Finck in the solo left, but he's not credited.

I can't copy/paste on phone, but it's probably already been posted in this thread.

If Atlas is getting a standalone release, then there may be a B Side there too.

I would not get my hope for Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul, but State of Grace would make sense since it's unlikely to be singles material.

Anyway Atlas isn't confirmed yet, but hasitleaked is more credible than any gnr community "insider" grifter.

This has been online for years with different names. I'm surprised some of you guys hadn't heard it before.

It's the new Closing In You as opposed to My Favorite Pillow imo. It sounds like it's Axl, but it's probably not.

Closing in You I think ended up being something, someone found on a random video game's ost.

This could be anything, but it's probably not GNR.
