#21 Re: Guns N' Roses » BETTER: second single CONFIRMED » 866 weeks ago

While not in my personal top 3 new tracks, I agree that this is the most cross-over friendly and generally best recieved of the leaked tracks from the past 2 years. hell, even the Merckster must've thought so if we remember back to the preliminary Harley ad.

#22 Re: Guns N' Roses » GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy' Single Best 'Mainstream Rock' Debut » 869 weeks ago

Gotta give em' one thing: A/G have balls...they could've made this a stealth release just to get it done with but they are definitely playing up the hype and embracing he bizarre history of the album. Is it a gamble? I think so, but so far a pretty good one.

#23 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Great GNR Message Forum Sell out » 869 weeks ago

people take the internet way too seriously.

opinions are cheap---what isn't is dedicating your private time and money to maintaining a fan site--if said band then let's you into the inner circle-even just a bit on the precondition you maybe make sure there is only nice talk about them--well who wouldn't do it? Jarmo put alot of effort in for a long time--it's his baby and he can do what he wants with it--just as the rest of us can leave if we don't like it (and given i don't post there now, you can infer what i think about the place). But really, these are internet discussion boards and people over-react about their importance.

i'm grateful to anyone who hosts them, and given that they are private undertakings, respect the right for them to set their policies and not accuse them of having lack of integrity. it's time to stop slinging arrows and enjoy the month ahead at whatever forum we choose to post at.

i don't mean this as a shot at you D, glad to have you here....I just am a little tired of the way people are slinging mud at each other when for the most part they've never met in real life. Wrong to make moral judgments about people's character based on internet posts. These are good times to be a fan--and we can all find a community where we can post our thoughts on the actual band and material we care so much about.

#25 Re: Guns N' Roses » When will it leak? *It Leaked* » 869 weeks ago

Watermark or whatever, the thing will probably leak in about two weeks' time I would imagine....maybe cut a week off the usual month-before leak time b/c it is exclusive to one store.

in any event i will hold out this time. in the past, i downloaded with glee b/c I felt I needed a reason to keep sticking with this thing. with it coming out, i feel like i should save that last little bit of surprise and make that day meaningful.

#26 Re: Guns N' Roses » What song did Axl open November Rain with in 2006 » 869 weeks ago

#27 Re: Guns N' Roses » With CD Released; What Will/Won't Change? » 869 weeks ago

Will Change: I will drink Dr. Pepper for the first time in like 8 years after swearing off most soda

Won't Change: I will be listening to Chinese Democracy songs at least every other day as I have been since 2006

#28 Re: Guns N' Roses » Not So Surreal Feeling... » 870 weeks ago

i'd say it still feels surreal...sure, most of us die-hards know most of the album now and probably have made up our minds as to whether we like or dislike the direction Axl took...

but c'mon..you didn't get chills up your spine when that little countdown clock came on gnr.com today?

#29 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Press Release! (Rolling Stone.com) » 870 weeks ago

With how shitty most music is nowadays, it should be easier to pull off.

it was funny, the DJ this afternoon on WAAF said they were playing new music from GnR, Metallica, and AC/DC--he then said-"Is it 1988?"

I don't know what it says about the current state of the music industry that bands who have been playing for about 2-3 decades are still looked for for good new material...

If the release of this album knocks the ear-raping that is the Jonas Brothers off the front pages of music media for even 2 days, that is an amazing and positive accomplishment.

Wow.

Gold Stars all around.

It's funny--for a guy (Axl) who is allegedly no longer relevant--there is a lot of talk about this...fuck, even the NY Times mentioned it today.

Welcome back to the jungle kiddies!
