man, buckethead is the best. i marked out as soon as i heard the killswitch on the intro to silkworms.
that's a very interesting breakdown. any idea what axl is singing? almost sounds kind of radiohead-like.
some actual lyrics could have made this song a winner. it's a shame axl wasted a monster of an instrumental with such wacky lyrics.
brain is a beast. probably the best part of the song.
bucket's solo on oh my god was really cool to hear. the song EXPLODES after his part. i think i still like the original a bit better, though.
"Oooohh Hoooo, just another love stripped away"

If you go back to the Rock Band mogg file leaks, Bucket's original solo was extended longer than Ron's, Axl (or Caram or whoever) clipped it,
You can hear very faintly in the background of the rock-band clips the original solo (mute all but vocals and additional instruments and you an hear some soft spill noise from the performer's playback) - but it's basically almost inaudible and not much use for the purposes of telling if the subsequent bumble-foot solo had any resemblance to it.
If anything, you could probably say that it was significantly different as that's why it's obvious that the spill is from an older take and not the album version.
I agree with MC about the spill from the older take. Some notes from that buried solo (during the humph, humph part) are definitely audible from the Rock Band Additional Instruments track, and Bumble played something completely different on the final release.

Purple Rain.
A Prince cover would be a nice tribute to one of the all-time greats. I wouldn't be opposed at all.
I'm sure this will put me in the smallest minority possible, but I'd like to get "It Tastes Good, Don't It" again - the rock version. It would be easy for Axl to sing, and the entire world truly needs to experience the beauty of this song. I'd kill a small animal for a studio version.
Other than that, I've heard the rest of what they are playing. All I want is new music.

Damn... the conspiracy episode kicked ass (Atari is right tho, dialogue fucking SUCKED with Mulder/Scully, the episode didn't start until Joel McHale & Mulder went Alex Jones on Scully, that's when it KICKED IN)
Then the 2nd episode with the stand alone hybrid thing... that one was EVEN BETTER.
All of my favorite shows have ended or been cancelled. Sons, Justified, Burn Notice, Person of Interest, Dallas, True Detective... only show I have left is The Blacklist.
But having The X-Files back. Like this? It's like going home to meet an old friend. I cannot WAIT for next Monday at 8 o'clock to get here.
FUCK YEAH!
I'm loving this reboot also. Polluxlm is right - both Mulder and Scully sound like they are 30 years older than they are. Weird. But both of the first two episodes had my full attention. Been rewatching old episodes on Netflix for almost a month. This new season is off to a good start.
Axlin, The Blacklist is amazing. Love that show. Person of Interest will be sorely missed. It'll be interesting to see if the remaining episodes ever see the light of day. Limitless is pretty entertaining also.

"Sichuan Hudson".
Great title.
Its weird. Slash and Duff contributing to CD tracks is both intriguing and frightening at the same time.
I mean....imagine if we never heard the title track and next week they release Sichuan. Is the fan base going ape shit or not?
In that form, the answer is probably 1) bang, 2) fizzle (at best). But, there's no way Axl would allow a track like this to be released. The sound of the "Watch This" split tracks isn't good at all. The drums are poorly recorded (IMO). The song structure doesn't work with the vocals, and Slash fans will almost certainly notice how I had to rearrange things. However, If Axl/Slash/Duff/Izzy gave "Watch This" 24 hours of their time, and then they re-recorded a new version of it with Axl adding CD-style vocals to it, I'm sure it would be very, very good.
I may take another crack at this one, especially if someone here has some good ideas for restructuring the instrumental.

Was the one you liked Born Free? Unfortunately I lost those when my last pc took a shit. You'd be surprised that those got a fairly decent reaction on the old MIA site when I posted them there.
I think it was ITW/Galang. I used to really like the SR/XXXO mashup, but that one didn't sound quite right to me last time I listened to it.

Me Wise, I listened to one of your tracks last night and then had to bolt. It was good. Very unique! I'll check out more in the next few days.
James, here is a link to the Riad and CD mixes you asked about:

I listened to those old GNR/MIA mashups again a few months ago.... I think one of them was kinda good. The others were, um... um... sorry about that.

Me Wise Magic - I will definitely check out your Soundcloud profile. I haven't spent much time on there since somebody reported 4 of my uploads a month or two ago.
James, thanks for the TIL and CITR praise. I'm proud of both, and I think that Bucket CITR mix may be some of the best work I've done. Having nearly 300 Bucket albums to pick from is nice, but then again it is a bitch to search through 300 albums for stuff that may work.
You are correct about Messages. Not mine. I actually tried mixing Messages with Maddy. They never sounded right to me. As for Riad, I have done a few things with it. Yes, I did a version with the Bucket solo. I also made two duet mashups with a Jewel song that nobody in their right mind (other than me) could possibly enjoy. I take that back. One friend of mine liked them. But he's out of his mind. Do I think Slash could re-work Riad? Sure. I think he, Axl, Duff and Izzy could easily reboot all the CD stuff and make them sound great. Better than what we have? I dunno. But great, no doubt in my mind.
I'll upload the CD/Watch This and the Bucket Riad for you tomorrow. I'm sure they are somewhere where I can find them.

Will, I'm actually a bit embarrassed now about that old Spanish TWAT mix. I do like the title though.
Me Wise Magic - glad to see you still like hearing this stuff. Saw your comment on Soundcloud and truly appreciate it.
Axlin and James, I agree about the Slash version of SW. Though I do think Slash (and Duff) could make it work, it would have to be a very different track. There is a ton of synth and noise in SW that I doubt Slash would find to his liking.
James, the ITW/Slither mashup isn't one of mine. I did like it though. My Slash/Axl mashup stuff includes CD/Watch This, CITR/Gotten, and the aforementioned Spanish TWAT. I'm a huge Buckethead fan, so my work has focused more on getting him more involved. That, and duets. I dig the duets.

Hi Everyone -
My remixing days are few and far between, but I thought I'd share some revised Silkworms stuff.
Here is the new-ish Buckethead version:
https://soundcloud.com/evadergnr/silkworms-bucket-evo
And here is a Slash version:
https://soundcloud.com/evadergnr/silkworms-slash-evo
Neither one is pure gold, but maybe someone will find some entertainment value from one or the other. If any of you would like to take 8 years of my own tinkering and add your own flair, here is a link to the split files (beware the tricky Sendspace link):
https://www.sendspace.com/file/9p23as
The files are ogg. If you want to mess with the Bucket version, open everything except the first two Slash tracks. For Slash, open everything except the two Bucket tracks.
Glad to see so many of you back at this forum!
