Well said, monkeychow.
For people saying they are wasting their careers, what do you think of say the guys that play in Wayne Newton's band in Vegas? Getting paid to play music, playing in a very long-running act, with a music icon. (Sorry for the American references here but), what about the guys in G.E. Smith's Saturday Night Live Band? Paul Shaffer's band on Letterman? With some exceptions, these guys aren't putting out albums and in most cases they're playing almost entirely other people's songs. Shaffer's drummer Anton Fig isn't exactly a household name, but he's been playing that gig for years. I'm betting he's happy with a steady job that pays him to do what he loves - play music.
As an artist, sure most people want the fame, riches, and to leave behind some sort of legacy, but most of the artists (including musicians and other artists here) that I know are very content doing something that they love and being able to make a living off of it. These guys are doing just that. Only they're most likely making a very good living from it and also performing with a legend. As a drummer, if I was in Frank's shoes, I don't think I'd be too anxious to leave that gig.

Oh great, another GNR "insider" story
Just kidding DTJ. Sounds cool! Keep us posted!

Dreamline wrote:Axl gets so much undeserved shit from the media and fans.
Unfortunately, I am going to have to disagree. I'd say the majority of shit Axl receives from his fans and the media is more than well deserved.
What DTJ just said was pretty much what I meant to say.
I certainly didn't mean to come off as saying that Axl does no wrong. What I'm talking about is the little stuff, and this incident is a perfect example. BBF answered a mail from Del and tacked on a message for Axl, something anyone of us might do rather than writing and sending a seperate message. But this was blown out of proportion and turned into "Axl's such a dick that his own band members can't contact him directly."
It's that kind of thing - taking something out-of-context, or without knowing all the facts and negatively speculating on Axl's character that I think is unfair and undeserved. BBF cleared up the facts while using his sense of humor to point out how absurd these conspiracy theories are. I personally thought that was cool.

Why dont I get mail from here?
That mail was from Brody at Roses of Velvet. Guess you missed all the drama huh? Check out this thread:

It explains what happened and why this place is getting a new name.

Awesome comment! I love BBF's sense of humor.
Axl gets so much undeserved shit from the media and fans. Hearing this kind of stuff all the time, any of these guys could easily be a dick in responding to it. It's great how BBF uses his sense of humor to counter this kind of speculation. It makes a point, and it's damn funny too. Axl's lucky to have you in his corner, Ron, musically and personally.

Loving the vintage cover.
Dreamline maybe you could tell us what the article is about
The only thing on the cover (other than Axl) is under "Interview" it says "Guns n' Roses".
If I have a chance today, maybe I'll swing by Tower Records and see if they have this issue. Doubt there's anything exciting in it though.

Dammit, you guys guessed the 2 I knew.
Cool idea for a thread, LLL!
#298 Re: The Sunset Strip » Apocalypse alert!!: Goonies 2 in pre-production » 920 weeks ago
I'm a big fan of the Goonies today. I still watch it from time to time on DVD and aside from some old effects shots that look a little bad, the movie still holds up.
I heard a rumor years ago that a sequel would entail the kids of the original characters going on an adventure. Not sure if they're sticking with that idea or not though.
Wonder if Spielberg will be involved again. The thing that scares me most is that I'm not sure that guy can make a good movie anymore. I'm hoping to god he proves me wrong with Indy 4 next spring though.

I bet this guy is a blast at parties! :P
Nice find DTJ! Gave me a good laugh.
edit: That's a little mic there, right? He's not using anything, but doing this all with hand-farts, right?
