Either Axl knew about it beforehand, or the record company knew about it with Axls permission (do what you want when it comes to promotion kinda thing).
This is not some 'stunt' by Dr. Pepper, but of course, the whole campaign depends on it appearing that way.
Also, it makes perfect sense. If the record was handed in some time ago this is exactly the type of promotion fitting for an album 15 years in the making.
I know, I was just making a joke. But everyone missed the Dr Pepper reference

I think the assessment is that for Dr. Pepper to do something like this GN'R would have to be involved. With all the lawsuits today I don't think a big company would involve a third party in anything without an agreement.
Then that means GNR is bullshitting that they are surprised about it then. That's fucked up.

Wow, I suppose this is legit, either that or Axl doesn't have anything to do with it. But wow, I just really hope this is the beginning of something. I mean it is an original way to promote an album, free can to every US citizen I mean come on, and even it wasn't intentional well I would say they should just use this, I mean it's been appearing on loads of US news sites so a lot of people besides the hardcore fans must know about this. Like James said if nothing comes of this GN'R just pissed away the best marketting chance they have, hell this is better coverage than touring for months got them. This way anyone who watches the news knows about this!

To be honest, the fact that we're all choosing new singers shows that loads of people want the band to continue without Scott, and whilst I do like some STP stuff and think Scott is great on that, I'd prefer them to get a new singer.

If this isn't true, best hoax ever. If this is true, then I hope it's not actually Dr Pepper doing this legit and it's part of a marketting campiagn. I'll say one thing it's an original way to adverties it.
