Trying to ignore the elephant in the room is so fucking stupid. All interviews are like that...the interviewer beats around the bush for god knows how long and everyone knows he wanna ask other questions.
"So, did you play any D chords while on tour with GNR?"

"Does Robin have a beard?"

Blah blah blah.
They are being interviewed by GNR fansites because they are IN GNR. If they can't talk about it then simply don't do the interview because it just comes off as the most retarded thing ever.
The secrecy crap is getting old.
Yeah it's fun for the first 5 years or so but in the end it just comes off as something people can make fun of GNR about. And retarded it is.

You can't say there's no reason to believe he's not in the band. The fact that he's touring with NIN is a pretty solid reason to believe he's not in the band whether it's true or not.
You are dead on. Anything else people come up with are just out of naivety.
But bottom line is. If he hasn't left then the band will be dead till 2009 and prob a while thereafter. But the lack of clarrification from the band when they'll get Jarmo to clarrify even small rumours means theres something behind this story I think.
Exactly. People does not take this seriously enough. Even if they don't care about Robin, they're looking at delays and major band dynamic changes etc etc.

I don't see why people freak out, he is touring for 2 to 4/5 months with another band, so what?
NIN isnt Hookers N Blow, or X Japan or some gigs with Soul Asylum.
A NIN tour will last for at least 1 year. Maybe 2. Robin won't be free until late 2009-2010. Trent would never agree of loosing his guitar player in the middle of a NIN tour just because Axl wants him back. Trent knows stuff we don't and when he gets Robin back, he knows he can keep him for as long as he want him.
So, we're back with two options:
A) Forget Robin, hire yet another guitarist and tour anyway. You'll be having 2 new guitarists playing the material of the ones who made the album you're about to promote. The average GNR concert goer may not give a shit, but to me that sounds more like a parody of a band rather than a real band.
B) Wait for Robin to finish, release and tour after. That would be 2010.
Conclusion: Disaster.

NIN tour goes on for longer than that.
Robin is lost. With the current schedule of things you won't see Robin back in GNR. Might as well start looking for a new guy now if they're gonna release an album or tour the next 2 years.

See the AFD tours for the past 5 years as proof of that.
That is not the same. That tour was done 15 years after the release of the album, not 1 month after the release of the album which might happen in this case.
You got the nostalgia factor, the PR factor, the money factor and the comeback factor.
Touring a new album without the proper band members is just loose money factor.
