#301 The Sunset Strip » 6 Hit Songs You Won't Believe Are Insulting Celebrities » 617 weeks ago

Music tends to be a "names changed to protect the innocent" kind of business. That's why it's so easy to miss that some of the most famous songs in history were written as direct insults to actual people. The following songs take on a whole new meaning once you realize ...

I definitely liked this enough to check out their previous albums, though I may not like them. Not a metalcore fan.

This is my first taste of A7X, and I like it. I don't find it bland, but if it is, it's a bland that I like. I'm digging listening for the influences from those other bands I love.

Thinking of what U2 and Metallica GH's would be. U2 has only had 4 single in reach the top ten in the US Mainstream Rock Charts since Anchung Baby. They've had a ton more overseas, but I've never listened to them, so I can't judge. Of the songs that made it here, I liked Beautiful Day and Vertigo.
Metallica have had 13: Until it sleeps, hero of the day, king nothing, the memory remains, turn the page, fuel, whiskey in the jar, no leaf clover, I disappear, st anger, the day that never comes, cyanide, all nightmare long.
That's a pretty badass album, but in all seriousness, while I like most of those songs, I'm also very bored with most of them. CD on the other hand, I still listen to.

Now I realized why I stop coming to these boards... You could come up with a Metallica GH album post-Black Album, or a U2 GH album post-Achtung Baby, and it would be muuuuuch better than CD. At best to any listener there's only about 3 good songs on it, if that. Personally I don't even have the album anymore, I think it was left in my car when I sold it. No need to download it, it was just pretty bad.
Nobody has the last word on taste. But what PAS is saying is true. Other bands are releasing tunes on a par with anything on CD, each of us just might not personally agree.
Even in GNR land you could take every tune of CD and stack it against an older GNR tune that runs in the same vein and argue that CD tunes are always weaker..
I strongly disagree with both of you. I think CD is on par or better than any other GNR record, AFD excluded. I like it better than Lies, UYI 1, and TSI. Love UTI 1 and all, but I like CD better.

But..it's one of the few movies you'll see of Kristen Stewart actually not sleep walking and giving a shit about her role.
Hope this helps and enjoy!
Lol, not a fan of Kristen Stewart either, probably why I haven't made more of an effort to watch it. I used to go out with a chick that not only looked like her but had a similar personality. I was so fed up with that personality, or lack there of, after 3 years in a relationship with her, that now it's hard to sit through 2 hours of K-Stew's acting. And yet I've had to, because my wife is a twilight fan. Smh.

Not really in to Bon jov but whats this Phil like
He's good, kicked ass on the BJ tour. He's also worked on albums with some big name rockers like Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and others as a session guitarist.
I'm sure he'd bring a lot to the table on a new album, but there wasn't a lot of guitar in the last BJ album, and I think it maybe a sign of what's to come w/o Richie. So it doesn't really matter how good Phil is.

While I'm happy and looking forward to the new album. Especially since one of my friends is a huge Joan Jett fan. As for the reunion, it doesn't really matter that much. Joan is way more successful as a solo artist with the Blackhearts then when she was in the Runaways. She has the freedom to write her own songs, tour reasonably, and other things without it affecting her personal life or blowing things out of proportion. She can record anything now with no pressure. Not a bad music life now. It seems the Runaways breakup both Cherie splitting in '77 and then calling it quits in '80 means there was way more business problems within the band and it's camps. I mean I would love for Joan, Cherie, and Lita to perform; but they don't need to do a reunion tour for that. They can just hop on stage and play. No name, No worries. Plus..I think drummer Sandy West's passing is a major factor. Joan and Lita always referred to her as the spirit of the band. Maybe Joan doesn't feel right when it's not the full original band. Joan and Cherie get along fantastic I hear; but when recording new music and committing to big plans way in advance is hard for alot of artists. You have to give up something.
Hell I've listened to Lita's new album months ago and I thought it was fucking great. Some of her best work in years and she still looks fantastic and seems humble. So if she wants to play with Joan and both are open why not. They can do their own thing if it's more comfortable and they don't need the money or press. They don't need to reboot the Runaways for that. Personally The Runaways got a big boost in popularity again by alot of their songs being used for movie soundtracks, the Runaways movie (which was pretty good to an extent even though I think it portrays certain artists cough cough Lita in the worst light), and other things. Plus I know I would have a blast seeing either of them live.
The only song I know from these ladies is "I love rock n roll" by Joan, great song, so I'm not a big enough fan to be disappointed. (Really just posted it because I knew you were a fan, amigo)
I've been meaning to check them out for a while though, just never got around to it. I haven't gotten around to watching the movie yet either, though the trailer looked awesome when it came out a few years back.
I'm sure I'll get to it eventually though, because it comes to mind often enough, mostly because of this album cover:
#309 The Sunset Strip » Cinderella Members Announce West Coast dates With Cheap Thrill Projec » 618 weeks ago

Cinderella members Eric Brittingham and Jeff LaBar have joined forces with vocalist/guitarist Brandon Gibbs (formerly of The Gibbs Brothers) and drummer Troy Patrick Farrell (White Lion, Gilby Clarke) in a new band called Cheap Thrill. The group have just added three West Coast dates to their touring calendar, including their Southern California debut and a return trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cheap Thrill brings you a sound flavored with Cinderella tunes such as "Nobody's Fool", "Heartbreak Station", and "Gypsy Road", alongside "Hello And Goodbye" from Jeff LaBar's soon to be released CD and "This Town", the newest song from Gibbs' solo record.
When Cinderella isn't touring, Gibbs and Brittingham have always found themselves working together off and on throughout the last five years. The Nashville based Cheap Thrill made their debut on the Monsters of Rock Cruise in March of 2013, and thus started the buzz about this new band that is storming the country with their modern mix of rock and stage presence that is loaded with more energy than a steaming locomotive.
"Being able to transition from a three-piece acoustic show to an all out pumped up electric show keeps the project fun and versatile," says Brittingham. "It's all about the music, Gibbs adds, "We have fine-tuned a product that will appeal to audiences of all ages."

Joan Jett has told L.A. Weekly she can’t see the point in a Runaways reunion. She thinks there would be more bad than good were it to take place.
Lita Ford reported in 2012 that she, Jett and Cherie Currie had settled the differences resulting from their 1980 split, that she had dined with both her former bandmates. The topic of getting back together was raised.
But, at the time, Ford added: “I don’t know how Joan feels about it. I couldn’t get a solid answer from her. If she decides she wants to put together the Runaways again, I’d be in 100 per cent.”
Now, Jett now tells L.A. Weekly, “I don’t really get why we should do it – the down side is bigger than the up side. It would be fun for people to see, but you’ve got to remember we’re not who we were in 1976. It’s not worth it to me. We had a great band that kicked ass for three and a half years. I’m very protective of it because it was very special to me.
“To come back and have the press judge us… Plus, you can’t gauge the dynamics of the band. I’m just not sure it would be the reunion the fans are looking for.”
Jett releases her new Blackhearts album Unvarnished in October 1. She says, “It’s some of the better writing I’ve done in a long time.”
