To a degree, I agree with you on that. Motley Crue has books and sideprojects going for it along with their own, new stuff with the original lineup and they have toured insane. Their last album, Saints of Los Angeles, went gold just like Chinese Democracy.
My point being, CD, a legendary album before its release, got the same treatment Axl's glam-rock peers had to work their asses off for. Only Axl didn't break a sweat in promoting his stuff.
For their next albums, I'd say both bands start at a low point in comparison. The Crue convinced respectable amounts of audiences that they have their vintage sound intact. Guns need to reinvent themselves as a single unit instead of a baggage claim for post-Slash guitar players.
You could almost say both bands (for different reasons) are in a peculiar situation: a sophomore slump after that comeback season. You're here. Cool. What's next? The most riveting outcome would be for Axl to let Ashba and Tommy write a ripping rock album, and truly, call it Guns N' Roses.
It's really the only way to upstage Chinese Democracy.
Indeed my good sir! I know DJ wants to make a big mark on this record and show that he can put some rockers on there to please the fans. He's a good writer for that kind of stuff and hopefully those are the kind of songs that he has been showing Axl. I do want to see a great balance of the guitar players on these recordings. I'm hyped; but I shouldn't get too overly excited until I see the actual product being advertised.

Agreed. It's all over and done with! The Future is here and let's all move on shall we. Slash is doing his record and going to tour with his band with Myles and the guys, Adler has a new band and record coming out, Duff has Loaded and maybe VR in the near future, Axl has his current version of Guns coming out and doing shows all over the place and maybe some new music. Matt is recording music with other people, (VR?) and Izzy is doing is thing and making music from time to time. Those are the options to choose from I guess.
Glad to hear Steven is doing well though.

Interesting read. My guess is you've probably heard most of it.
yeah... Pretty much! I just wanted to hear some of the songs that were taken off the finished album that were shown on the back of that album list that was leaked back in 07. That might of been fake though.

I understanding the editing cause the TMS interview was terribly edited and they needed more film and camera crews to get more questions and time. That was the big problem that kind of ruined it. I did enjoy some of the individual interviews with DJ, Dizzy, and Tommy. Wish the Ron interview went better too. @Monkey: yeah that would be pretty rad! They need to start taking advantage of more tech.

Yeah it's a mixed bag when it comes to that song. I don't normally play it alot. The songs on Chinese I play the most would have to be Better, Shackler's, SOD, Chinese, Madagascar, If The World, and Prostitute.

#3218 Re: The Sunset Strip » QUEEN Discussion » 688 weeks ago
I did a search and found that this is the longest thread we have going on Queen so I just changed the title.
Having a morning where I'm reflecting on just how good Freddie was at what he did:
One Vision is actually one of my favorite Queen songs!

Oh nice! I'm thinking about recording some music with some of my friends. Going to learn how to play the guitar sometime soon. I have a cowbell, a web cam with a mic, some synthesizer and keyboard input programs on my Google Chrome apps, and going to purchase some more music stuff and hopefully a ukulele too. My friend is very good at making beats, instrumental tracks, and various remixes using music software, and my other friend is a great vocalist and wants to get into the music industry and also has learned various instruments and music styles. I just want to do it as a hobby with friends when I'm free. We want to do an electronic, experimental kind of music; but I'm hoping I bring in some influences of Pink Floyd, Guns N' Roses, The Beatles, Genesis into the mix. I also want to make some covers of songs too. Well see what happens. Did you guys do some club gigs in your band? After hearing Arnold Layne on VH1 classic, I started getting into more of the Syd era of things. He was such a great talent. It sounds like a great deal and I will definitely keep it in mind since my birthday is coming up and i'm going to be investing in a whole bunch of stuff.
